To answer your questions, yes, that watch can go under water. Technically, it is listed as water resistant to 100m. Personally, I would not use it as a dive watch, but I don't anticipate any difficulties from taking it in the pool. I advise against activating the chrono pushers in water though.
As to the resistance of forged carbon, I have found it extremely scratch resistant. Certainly more than steel or other traditional metals. However, the material can be dented if subjected to a forceful hit against a sharp edge.
My Trulli has been worn a lot and still looks new. So I guess it depends upon how hard you tend to be on a watch. I hope you will be pleased.

Forged carbon is meant to be quite durable but surely you won't be wearing this for extreme rollerblading
