Hi I'm new to this thread, not new to watches,
eventually a new watch has arrived and myself arrived at a new brand.
I made some detailed pics and if you like you may guess about the watch.
regards

Congrats to your new Master Compressor Geographic!
Give her a good life!

yes, perfect guess !
of course I'll do, but I am not a collector, yust wearing them.

JLC is a fabulous brand. I hope that you enjoy wearing it.
Best regards,
George
Please feel free to post as many photos you like!
Your comment about not being a collector raises a question…
When do you become a collector?
When you have a certain number of watches in your watch box or when your interest and passion for watches makes you join a community like this?!
Food for thoughts…

good question...hmm....from my point of view a collector is somebody who buys watches and store them, without wearing any of them, to keep them in a perfect condition.
At a certain time in the future he might sell some, in order to buy other timepieces. Probably he could make a profit with some of the deals.
As I see myself, I got over the years a few different brands, which are also different characters of timepieces and I wear them all - each to its purpose.
This means my watches, especially the gold ones, have lots of tiny scratches, which makes them - out of a collectors view worthless.
Thus I dont see myself as a collector and I never had sold one of my watches.

Bob, I like your approach – all watches should be used and hopefully never leave your watch box.
I have the same mindset, all my watches I use and I never get a watch in purpose of speculation.
Of course, some gets more wrist time then others…
But!
I have been letting go of a few.
One out of love for a friend, I had two of a discontinued watch and he really wanted that model (Master Reveil).
Very recently I had to give up couple out of necessity to be able to go for a Grail…
Very bitter, but also very sweet when the Grail arrived!
So, my question – am I a collector?
And if I am not – what am I?
Because when people see my watch box the normal reaction is: you are a collector.
Maybe this becomes to philosophic topic, but I think it’s very interesting to hear other “watch nuts” how they define themselves to others.
Personally I use to say I am a crazy watch enthusiast!
That’s for sharing your thoughts!

I'v read your lines carefully and I think there is a possible answer to your philosophic question:
it is a hobby !! because there is a set of fulfilled criteria:
it is time consuming
searching www,
chatting with friends
reading mags and articles
spending a certain amount of money...
wath do you think about this idea?

Some say that a hobby is something you do for fun without any goal of making a profit…
Some say you may be able to make some profit on your hobby.
But, if you do – I think that one day you will realize that your hobby is actually work and not a hobby anymore…
I agree with all your statement so far.
The only thing is that I think of myself as a hobby collector..!
A non profitable collector…
If I did it for speculation, I would see myself as an investor.
Always interesting to know others view of the same dilemma…

Hi Nicolas,
first of all, for me it represent a perfect compromise between a dress and sportive watch.
There had been Dewitt la double fuseau, Corum Admirals Cup GMT, Vacheron Overseas GMT, Glashütte Original Sport Evolution GMT and despite i own already a - Breguet, the Breguet Typ XXII, in the field of decision.
The second Time Zone on this JLC is most easy to select and the angle of the both crowns with their compression keys looked much different compared to most of the other watches featuring a 2nd time zone, as there is no one at 3 o'clock.
Actual it is on a leather strap, but I'll change this in summer to a rubber band.

that is a great watch. As you said, very versatile. Always elegant and sporty, with a useful complication. The Compressor range is a great starting point, very versatile indeed.
