Hi there,

I hope some of the enlightened members of the board could help with my problem.

My JLC Squadra hometime appears to lose all its power over a 90min period.

Initially I wind it up, just a couple of turns then wear it over a period of 5 hours. When I took my watch off to go to the gym and having returned back after 90 mins, the watch has stopped.

Do you think it needs to go back to JLC for a look or have I broken it. The rotor etc appears to be ok, winding/spinning ok.

Please follow the following guidelines.

Give the crown around 50 turns.

Then, don't wear the watch, let it quiet without moving it, and check how many hours it will work.

My guess is that you didin't wind it enough, and that 5 hours of wearing may largely be not enough, even more if you work under a desk.

I find that during the day my watch is able to maintain the power reserve that it had at the beginning of my day. That is, normal wear does not add extra power to the reserve.  So if I started out with a half fully wound watch, it will be that way at the end of the day.  If you say that you only wind the watch a few turns before wearing it, and assuming that it had no power reserve prior to your winding, I would say that it may last only a couple hours, if at rest in your locker, before it losses what little power you gave it with your few turns.  As the earlier poster suggested, wind at least 50 times, preferably 100 if starting your day with a stopped watch.

That happened to me with one of my SQ HT.

 

Don’t know what kind of work you have but I sit behind a desk all day.

 

Not a lot of movement, so I think like Nicolas and Bob suggested give it a few more turns.

 

I have started to do that, never had any more trouble after that.

 

But like Nicolas said, wind it up and let it lye and see how long the PR will last.

Thanks guys for the responses,

I didn't give it 50-100 turns when I first got the watch as the instruction manuel said to turn a couple of time and then wear it.

I have wound it now to approx 60 turns and will see if that makes a difference.

Now I need to figure out how to use the other hour hand as I cannot get it to sync with the home hour hand.

Do you mean that they don’t go on top of each other or that they don’t move in the same rhythm, separated by whole hours?

 

The offset function of the second hour hand is when you pull the crown out one step (normally date), two steps and you set the (main) time.

 

If the hour hands are on top of each other but separated by 12 hours in time difference the AM/PM and date function might give you a strange outcome.
