Memovox World Time Thingy
Was wondering. Can someone explain how the old Memovox World Time watch functioned. I mean in respect of alarm control and setting and how one uses the inner dial for world time functions.

I have found out....
The "Worldtime" feature is an alternative use of the central disk of the dial. The alarm disk carrries the major cities, with (in the case of the official photo) Paris corresponding to the triangle on the disk. You align the triangle with the hour hand, and you can read what time it is in the other cities of the world.
The new Memovox International (2010) will be using this approach.

So the feature is more of a bonus visually than a practical one compared to, let's say, dual time zone function. If I am not mistaken the alarm will still be set off when you happen to be close to the hour hand.

To the Memovox International 2010.
I wonder if the Extreme World Alarm has a shelf life then? I mention this only because it doesn't seem to get enough attention in the forums. I really like it. I like it a lot more than the Extreme World Chrono. I just wonder how successful it has been for JLC.
The Memo WT and the EWA are not playing on the same background.
They can have a separate life, without problem for each of them.
The Memo WT will be an elegant, dressy watch, while the EWA is obviously sportier.
The size is not the same, also, with 40 mm for the Memo WT versus 46, 3 mm for the EWA.
And, more important, the Memo WT is not as useful as the EWA is.
The Memo WT is more a reinterpretation of a Model which existed in the 60ies.

At first, I wondered the same thing.
Then I found some pictures on the web of the Memo Int'l and could see it is a more dressy watch, and nothing like the EWA, which is really a rugged sports watch.
You are right, of course, we do not speak very often of the EWA on this forum. I wonder how successful it has been for JLC, too. But perhaps it appeals more to those customers who do not spend their days and nights on this Forum. We are definitely an odd breed here. ;-)
With the Memo Int'l and the Master Memovox to be introduced in 2010, JLC now has a pretty full line up of current in-production alarm watches that include the NSA, the EWA, the two new Memos -- one to suit any taste, right?
