What I have never understood is why they do not open up (more) monobrand stores and ideally take over the distribution themselves. With such a high (robust) demand why relying on ADs? (I know it takes time to execute such a strategy and the ADs served them well but are all of them still needed?)

Reverso was very niche watch in early 90s and sure it is experiencing some more popularity now, but for that price, good luck.
I can see most major brand going to a boutique only model in the near to medium term. Still puzzle me why Rolex is not doing it but am glad they don’t for now since my Rolex AD takes good care of me!
Richemont shenanigans. VC, ALS, I think boutique only makes sense for them, JLC though I'm not so sure, will be interesting to see how it works out for them
The brand isn't as strong as VC nor the production so limited as ALS, dropping ADs and pushing the price higher is an aggressive move. I think they sell shed loads of reversos in China so maybe the price moves are really for that market? It feels like Richemont is just running the same play over and over again across the portfolio not necessarily taking into account whether that same formula works for each brand. Can Panerai survive a 30% price increase and go boutique only? I hope we find out 😂

if somebody criticise the Reversos, please do not forget the complicated models ( Tryptique, Quadtryptique ), the limited series from the 90’s ( Septantieme, Tourbillon, Chronograph ).
A Cartier Tank can’t hold the comparison even with the more simple Reversos with “little complication”: a Sun&Moon, a Tribute Moon or even not with a simple Duoface.
The movements are not modern but very reliable and quite good decorated even for the increased price-range…

My Reverso delivers nothing but shear joy and appreciation for the brand and the Reverso heritage despite any of the criticisms noted below.
I checked the JLC website for the United States — no price increases for Reversos that I could find.
I bought a Reverso (single face) earlier this year.
I am okay with what I paid, especially seeing as how I got a bit of a discount at an annual “event” my local AD had (replete with a JLC factory rep.). Although a hacking movement would be nice, and I suspect its finishing isn’t up to the standards of some others, my Reverso is accurate, I like the watch’s design and DNA, and I wear it often. In short, I think it’s cool.
But, would have I paid another $2K for it? Probably not. And I’m not sure I’d pay up for another Richemont offering (or LVMH for that matter).
I think my next purchase will be from an independent brand… or another Rolex. I realize this last statement is at odds to some; so be it.

I bought a MUT Perpetual one year ago . The price was 21600 euros ... The same is currently at 28700 euros ( France) ...

Richemont being Richemont
I’ve bought watches from IWC, JLC, and VC all from the same local AD. That dealer lost VC and ALS, with new boutiques close by for both of those brands along with Panerai and IWC (both of which the AD still carries for now).
With this price increase and distribution model, in the Swiss watch space, Breguet, Blancpain, and Omega have more relative appeal these days (keeping in mind that I have several pieces from the Richemont brands).
I had thought about a Lange in the future, but the loss of the brand by my AD and the move to boutique only with a purchase history is not appealing.
Grand Seiko and several independents are still nice, but even there I am less interested in watches over time. Will be interesting to see where we are in 5 years.
