Thereβs evidence the Gyrotourbillon can perform admirably as both a watch and a work of art, based on the first modern Chronometrie competition. It lost out by a point to the simpler Master Tourbillon.
If you do not consider the ease of adjustment and the evidence that the quality of the adjustment and luck play outsized roles in measurable performance, then you can say the Gyrotourbillon offers a performance advantage. In theory.
No doubt, there are many elaborate tourbillon movements that are all show and no go, so the fact that the Gyrotourbillon achieves both is enough to win over my heart.
The way in which the Chronometrie competition met its demise and the absence of sincere disappointment amongst collectors points to a real world where everybody knows the answer, so weβve all agreed to wrap up the investigation and report that the answer will always remain a mystery.
Thank you for your very nice and detailed reply....

I was hoping that JLC released data on the accuracy of the Gyrotourbillon per day +1 vs conventional escapement so we can compare. About adjustments and variances we have the 6 Positions of testing.
It depends on all the work on the balance fine adjustment. Let's say that there is no need to have a Gyrotourbillon nor a Tourbillon to be extremely accurate.
I still feel sad about the one we saw at auction that went for 110k USD mon ami. Sadly, like you, I am AGAINST patronizing auction houses so it was never meant to be. Maybe we will be luckier in the future π
Yes mon ami. Nowhere near what we saw in NY a couple years ago. Trust me, if the price was anywhere near what we saw, it would ALREADY be on my wrist π€£ππ
