I am sure that I am dealing with RM enthousiasts here. I strongly think that RMs are way overpriced for what they offer and I feel very sad that, except of the looks, people complain that their very expensively paid watches very quickly fail to keep correct time. A brand with such a small history, with watches not tested for a long period of years, shouldnt demand these astronomical figures from buyers. I must admit though that they have a smart policy....

And one more thing! Why do people resell them so quickly and so massively?? Arent they happy with them???

Not everyone complains that their RM's quickly fail to keep time.

As for their prices, they are what they are.  If people didn't think that RM was worth it, they wouldn't be selling so many watches.

With newer technology like CAD/CAM, stereolith, etc.. testing is not like it once was.  Out of curiosity have you been to the new RM building at APR&P and seen how they develop or test watches?

Reselling could be a variety of reason (like speculators who flip the hot items or LE's).  But what about Rolex (note: Rolex used as an example and not trying to single them out), you see tons of those on sale everywhere, what does that imply?  FYI, RM is very limited in production.

I know many people here who are extremely happy with their RM's!

Please share with us know what you think is worth buying and which companies have the design, history, innovations, and reliability you are looking for.

This is a very subjective notion.

Go and have a look at the Independant Production, and you will see that all is very subjective.

I don't have this kind of problems, if I don't feel good with a watch, I don't go on it.

Why are people selling them massively?

Have a look at our Collector Market, you will see that many PP, JLC, UN, IWC, Rolexes are for sale.

This is not specific to RM Watches.

People buy then for what ever reason people sell this is life and how markets operate some buy then realise this is not for them and so on  like cars  buy and sell or maybe circumstances change financial and we must all adjust to these changes this is what makes our world go around,  as for RM i have to say that this brand impresses me very much and i think you should read other RM blogs from previous weeks and you too will see that Richard Mille is a very unique man as not only are his watches made from the best materials but also the designs are quite extreme a little like F1, back to my point on Richard the brand is very committed to its customers and pushing the boundaries in technology of watch making for this is not easy to produce because sometimes not everthing goes right when pushing technological limits, but you should read here that Richard responded to all here some weeks ago and we thanked him for that as no brands come to explain to there customers regarding criticism  and especially the Director.
We must try to understand where each brand is coming from and also heading to before we can openly criticise, one thing which is clear to me and many here is that RM are heading in right direction and thats the top.

RM is innovative! He is allowed to, and does try new approaches. The way the rules are in F1, all RMs would have a ETA 6947 in them.

I would rather you had entered the forum with a discussion that was a little less prosaic, but welcome in any event. 

We have been over this topic before, just recently, and I think at this juncture, there is little point in having another thread with brand bashing.  You cite no examples, no facts, you simply make a blanket comment without foundation.  You could have at least looked up recent discussions or framed your question in a more appealing manner.  So, look here and associated discussions:

the watches are great, people that buy them just get bored and move on.. its life... when you buy a new Ferrari.. do you keep it forever? no.. you get bored and move on.. sometimes buying another Ferrari.... or etc.

make an argument that anything over a 20 dollar timex is overpriced. Its all relative to ones personal threshold for what they think a watch should cost. I personally love RM and think they are wonderful time keeps and in my experience I have not had a problem with any of mine. I have had issues with many other mechanical watches and have just come to terms with the fact that these little machines are complicated to build and anything that is assembled by a human can have small mistakes made.

I can tell you why some people sell their RM's with a simple series of pictures.

So the love started from the moment I saw an RM add in Robb Report and I decide the Rose TA was not for me. So I turned this

into this plus a bit of cash


I ended up eating dinner with a friend that loved my RM10 in rose and he bought it right off my wrist, and I was with out my an RM. which did not last long because it was replaced with this.


You got to love RM is Ti, it just seems to fit in so well with the brand. But alas the RM10 Ti was turned into this

The RM 11 is a bit to big and cluttered so it had to go only to be replaced by my grail watch



Now this is pure perfect in my opinion

I would say if you are interested in RM watches you will not be disappointed in RM ownership and even if you decide to sell you normally come back and upgrade.

ive had my eye on 002v2 Ti for some weeks now.. but i really dont wanna spend the $.... such a hot watch tho.

But I expect high quality.  I know that some people who obtain lots of money don't value the money so they don't mind frittering it away as through that money meant nothing to them.  Though I have money to spend, I have never been one to fritter it away.  So, you won't find me wasting lots of money on something, then getting tired of it, and then selling it a few weeks later like some lost soul who has no meaning in his life.

But, that doesn't mean I'm down on Richard Mille either.  I'm still keeping an open mind that RM watches can be high quality matching their high prices.   So far, I have a RM010 (still have it and have not tired of it).  I've had no problems with it so far.  It has been a very reliable watch that I wear more often than everything else right now.  I may eventually buy other RM watches.

I suspect what you've observed can be better explained by the psychological profile of the owner and not by the nature of  RM watches in particular.  You see this behavior with lots of other brands, not just RM.  My suspicion is that such people are missing something in life that they think some watch will fill. But, they never seem to find that watch that gives them the lasting happiness they lack.  So, after a few weeks, the watch that gave them initial happiness, no longer satisfies them, so they sell it at a tremendous loss.

Last time I kept track of the accuracy was last week, and it was maybe -1 sec over a 4 day period.  I don't wear my watches continously for weeks so I'm unable to provide any month long time trials, but I NEVER ever have to worry about adjusting the time whenever I set it on the 1st day I wear it.

You may see more RM's for sale now due to the horrible economy and stock prices going down.  Everyone's 401k's and IRA accounts have gotten absolutely obliterated, so I bet some of those people selling are raising cash.  I've not only seen more RM's for sale recently, but I've seen more "hot" Patek models, "hot" Rolex models, "hot" Panerai models, etc. and all the other brands for sale more frequently.

I have recieved my RM005 from the service (still under warranty) spotless, without any surface scratches which I have accumulated in a very short while.  The watch also had a new kevlar strap, which I did not ask for, but certainly is a nice gesture.  I do not know if they gutted the watch entirely or just fixed it, but it was in service for about 7-8 mo.  The watch now is the most accurate piece I've owned, +1 sec /1-2weeks.  I am a happy customer.

Familiar story on swapping watches indeed. Wish I could get to the RM002/004 level but alas thats a bit beyond me. Have to disagree that Ti is the best material for an RM. something of such quality and value needs to be wrapped in a precious metal IMHO, not a great fan of Rose gold, but white gold or platinum would do nicely

Since it has the same base as the RM011 it is not surprising that we all seem to have observed great accuracy.

As I'm sure everyone familar with capitalism is aware, Richard Mille watches are worth what customers are willing to pay.  If Mille charged too much, customers could buy other watches that offered better value. Since locating my RM004 was a challenge, I figure somebody must be buying them.

Have you actually seen a Richard Mille in person?  If you did and didn't get one, what did you get instead, if anything?
