Well, Ken, this is one of the best (maybe "The" for me) watch gathering you've been sharing with us smile

While telling the new Pateks we would want to see for Baselworld, I've been really looking forward to have a very thin 2 hands one (maybe for the 40th anniversary ?)

Can I ask you what difference you can see or feel about the bracelet finish and design or construction between the 5712 and the 3700 (links gap, are the link as tight as the 5712's etc...)?

Thank you very much!

Cheers, Mark

Honestly....

 By: KIH : June 20th, 2015-06:35
.. what I felt difference is the "thinness" of 3700 in comparison to 5712.  Clasp type is very different from today's Nautilus series, but that is the same for Royal Oak.  Bracelet is made as good as the new one, I thought.  But it was dark and I was too excited and I missed something.....

Yeah, 40th Anniversary Nautilus is the possibility.  But no matter what Nautilus Patek came up with, I would still look for 3700 because:

1. I love original ones, in comparison to the "re-issue", whenever possible.
2. AD or Patek will NEVER sell the anniversary Nautilus to nobody (for Patek) like me anyway (even the today's normal Nautilus is, for me, 7 years wait, I hear, and it's ridiculous: they use Nautilus for those who buy expensive Patek as a "good will token" and NOT for the people who buys ONLY Nautilus.... that's why I do NOT buy new Patek and I own no Patek today.....)

So, my only chance to get satisfied about this is to find the complete set ORIGINAL 3700.

Ken

And this maybe be the perfect choice

I had a discussion with a Patek Salesperson and collectors about that: the fact there are long waiting lists and not as much stock as the demand is high is in the mean time a good thing but also a not so good one.

I think it is good for the brand itself (time has shown that way for Patek) but it is also annoying for the client.

I really like new references because sometimes more to my taste considering design or size but also because of the crafting standard which are usually better now.

I talked 2 days ago with a Nautilus collector who possesses the 3700 and the 3712 and he also told me there is no difference in quality between older and currect bracelet. That's a great point.

Anyway, the 3700 is one of the rare watches that is really worth having with no competition in the current line-up.

Possessing that one is really hard to compete with, even with a great anniversary model.

I hope you'll find it if you're looking for one and would love to see the pictures when done.

Thank you for your detailed reply smile

Cheers Ken.

Mark

I must live in an incorrect location to not see watches such as those regularly. (nt)

Still failing in Gerald Genta collection quest

 By: MTF : June 20th, 2015-20:21
Ken,

Thanks for the photo report.
It is a quest that many have tried but few have completed...to assemble the iconic steel watches designed by the late Gerald Genta.
I still have not completed and probably never will due to the current Mrs MTF's aversion to cushion shaped watches..... smile

Regards
MTF

I understand....

.. this will be a long quest for me, too!

Ken

Be consoled by the fact that I do not even own a single Genta ....
