From 1942 to 2022... A celebration of the famous Angelus Chronodato which became, for its 80th birthday, the Chronodate.
There is much more than the final letter which changes, here. Angelus totally revisited its icon, to make it much more modern. But the concept is the same: A peripheral date, and a chronograph. Without the windows for the day and the month, though...
And now, the new one, which comes in three limited editions, two in titanium ( one with an opaline dial, the other with a blue dial ) and one in rose gold., with a blue dial, only.
The case is very technical and modern with its 42, 5 mm diameter, blending curved and angular shapes, titanium or rose gold with carbon composite for the pushers and the side case, and a rubber ring for the big crown. It is water resistant to 30 meters.
The dial is nicely textured ( frosted ) with luminous applied indices and hands, a superluminova with a blue hue.
As for the movement, it is a new movement, apparently, the Cal A500, with a column wheel and a nicely shaped rotor bearing the " A " emblem of the brand.
As you can see, we are far from the timeless classic look of the original, it is a total rejuvenation of the icon, here. which I quite like. I still wonder why Angelus opted for a limited edition on these three versions, though.
What do you think?
