Thanks for sharing, Viken -- a very instructive (and scary!) story. Glad the guy is still alive and decided to report this to alert other people.

PS: I'm taking the liberty of moving it to HoMe so more members can see it, and it also gets picked up on the Front page. Cheers.

Thank you for moving it. I was wondering why it didn't show-up on the Front Page

We all need to carefully consider our personal security.
This is particularly relevant when considering a GTG of any kind.

Definitely, these days, I think twice before wearing an expensive watch for any out of the house activities.
All of your advices certainly make a lot of sense to me.

Best,
Gerard

WoW what a terrible story! Not only is it bad for the owner, but this also makes me even more nervous to buy from chrono24 (which I never did but always contemplate for reference I can’t get at the AD)!

Just to clarify, this happened to you?

Not me, I only posted the link to the article on Watch Collecting Lifestyle.

Brutal to read.

And not the first such story over the years.  You have to be vigilant at all times.  I am also a believer in a bank boxes for storage.  I never travel with more than whatever I wear, and even at home I never have more than 1 nice watch.  A bolted down safe is great, but if an intruder holds a gun to a loved ones head, it is going to be opened very quick.

Terrible story!

And a lot to learn from it. Thank you for posting it!

Yes… a terrible story. Thanks for sharing the tale (link) with us…

I will keep my eyes open for any of these.

Thankfully, it wasn't me. I'm too old to hang out with single women. I just posted the link to the article.

Keep your eyes open.

Never buy watches without box and paper.
