Doxa SUB 300 Carbon Aqua Lung Sharkhunter
I am a big Doxa fan. I feel that over the past couple of years they have done a great job with the line up of reissue Doxa Sub 300. There have about five version all in Limited edition lots of about 300 units. Most sold out very quickly some with hours others days with some taking longer. It was hard to keep up as they saved the Aqua-Lung version to last which were most desirable.
This new Carbon cased Doxa Sub 300 is almost double the price of the previous reissue Doxa Sub 300’s. That is going to a challenge for most Doxa buyers. I am not totally clear as to why forged carbon has nearly doubled the price so maybe if you know the costs to forge a carbon case please share.
In any case it is a real beauty with the new integrated rubber strap and buckle. Should get released in August. Let’s see how the Doxa fans will receive it.

And I think that Doxa made the right move progressing the brand by using a radical material. Forged carbon is a specialist process that isn’t cheep to produce. I’ll post a specific piece on this process in the next few days.
The amount of lettering and lume on that dial and bezel
is certainly one thing that might drive up the price!

I LOVE Black & Yellow. This one looks great.
That said, I was also surprised by the cost. Very surprised. For this cost from Doxa, I can just about purchase the all ceramic Apollo 8 from Omega, so that would be an easy choice for me.
I also don't understand the choice of carbon for a dive watch. Weight is no issue wearing a watch under water. And carbon dents on things like a boat ladder. I once smacked a PAM87 steel 1000m on a boat ladder in rough water and had that been this Doxa, it might have split in 2.
Still, they will find 300 buyers. It is certainly an attractive sport watch.
I’ve never considered getting a Doxa, until this popped up.
I don’t need a diver, and I certainly worry about how the forged carbon will handle dings, but this thing is extremely handsome. And chronometer-certified movement helps as well.
I just can’t justify the price though. That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if these sell like hot-cakes

Yeah I’ve seen it a couple of days ago and must say it’s beautiful!
Problem is with the price. I don’t see why they priced it that high even if it’s forged carbon. The colors combination look so similar to the AP Diver forged carbon.
And I would even say that with the crisis we live, it is not a good strategy... [nt]
