I have a Sarpaneva K3 Red moon coming and I don't know much about the watch or the company other than I really like the look of the watch and I met Stepan very briefly at basel two years ago.
Does anyone have any wrist shoots of the watch or any of the K 1-3 series?
Do we have any ideal of how many watches are produced a year?
Thanks in advance for any info. I can't wait to strap it on my wrist.
I am just back from my trip in Finland where I visited Stepan Sarpaneva in his workshop.
Helsinki really is a beautiful town and finnish people are very kind. As we are close to the summer soltice, the dawn is around 02:30 am and the sundown is about 10:00 pm !
Stepan's workshop is almost as crazy as Vianney's (although smaller) : there are a Vespa motorbike in the mainroom and several artistic paintings on the wall just to give Stepan's employees inspiration.
We discussed his past and future production for his two brands SARPANEVA Watches and SUF (Helsinki). Surprises to come !
Hereafter are the production figures for the Korona :
K1 : 10 pieces (only a few still available)
K2 : 25 pieces (only a couple of pieces available)
K3 : 40 pieces (including the Red Moon) another 20 pieces to be produced (most of them already sold)
K3 Blackmoon : 5 pieces another 15 pieces to come
Gold Korona : 5 pieces delivered so far (launched in Baselworld 2009)
Note : K1-K2andK3 are 44 mm diameter while the new Gold Korona is 42 mm. Although this can seem to be big, it does actually fit well on the wrist due to the strap pump stemp implementation.
The Sarpaneva K3 is a real beauty and in my opinion offers the most intriguing moonphase on the market. I can only imagine you never get tired of looking at that moonphase...
If you do a search here on the Purist you'll find much more info about Stepan Sarpaneva or you could check my weblog.
