I was really looking forward to this topic and would appreciate if we can talk more and discuss about Urwerk in terms of wearability, readability, durability and acceptability by watch collectors, particularly on the latest 103.08 TiAlN and 201 Hammerhead.

Just how "hard" is this TiAlN when compared to Platinum? Can it scratch easily? Any owners can share their experience on this TiAiN?

I'm cheap
I have handled the 103.08 and it is really beautiful.The only downside is the high price and URWERK has a very low resale value.
Being on waiting list for one, I decide to pass at this moment.
I'm going to wait for a preown piece later, which from experience should allow one to get it at 40-50% off retail.
This watch is really cool due to the case and the interesting time display......I think the Seiko serve the same purpose too and
need not be too careful to wear on a daily basis.
As for the coating, it is a very thin layer. So if you scratch hard enough or hit hard enough, it may come off or the 'weaker' steel under the coating may deform. It is not an Alusic in which the entire case is of one durable material....it is afterall still a thin coating.
I have this feeling that the next URWERK will be a SUPER SUPER Strong one but then the price will be very forbidden for many to enjoy .
Just my opinion and please don't get me wrong. I love URWERK but just not enough to spend that much.
There are watches I need not even blink....say Simplicity and Kari Observatoire......but just not this one (though I love it dearly).

being a happy Urwerk owner, I can say that it wears quite well on the wrist. It seemed quite big in the beginning visually but physically, it wears well in the sense that it still felt good at the end of the day. Contrast that with some other bigger watches that I had whose crown either rubbed into my wrist after the first few hours or the weight started to bother me halfway through the day. If there is a really good balanced big watch, this would be it IMHO

As for my past experience in wearing an URWERK, I enjoy it very much.
It captures alot of attention and it is very very cool. But somehow it s also a bit too heavy on my wrist.
The new 103.08 is Heavenly on the weight issue. I must say that it is a very desirable watch.
Maybe it's just me, after strapping it for a while, I don't think it is worth that much.
I even think a Goldpfeil is a 'more' watch than the 103, in term of finishing and the movement.
But having said all these, if I only want to have 2 watches.....
it will be Simplicity and the Urwerk 103 (any version)
It will be a very great companion. One mark the history and the tradition while the other one says about the future

The 103.3 in gold is a heavy watch, not uncomfortable but can move around the wrist. The 103.8 Tian looks like a whole different watch, due to its color and "crystal apperture" it looks smaller, its more stealthy and a whole different watch than the gold model. 

Congrats with the steel version Alex. It's so much different from your gold 103.
I tried it in Paris last month and really liked the material, the color and the weight of the watch.
But to be honest the weight of the 103.03 has never bothered me,
the watch fits the wrist very well and is very comfortable.
The 201, to me, is an incredible piece, but the height was more than I expected.

The photo is the 'display' back of a 103.03 for Anthony, but a different one than we're used to.

Have you ever used the external regulator? Is the chrono function (on the reverse, with no stop/start) of any real use?

If you could suggest any improvement at all to the watch, what would it be?

never will: I prefer to leave it to a watchmaker in case the watch needs regulation. There is no chrono function on the watch: the indicators in the back are a constant seconds and a minutes hand enabling one to perfectly set the time (satellites) to the minute.

The Urwerk design is a little over the top for me.  It's too futuristic looking and possibly might be years ahead of our time in terms of design IMO.  It's a great watch for those who like the design, but it's not my cup of tea even though I like usual new designs.

I've personally never strapped one to my wrist so I can't comment on wearability and comfort issues.

Anyone ever open one up to check out the finishing?  None of the Urwerk's have a display back right?
