This is a
bespoke Cabinotiers Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle World Time, ref. 86060 with an 18K
rose gold 42.5 mm
case.

The
dial center is decorated with
Zellij (زليج), the centuries-old art of
hand-cut geometric tilework born in
Morocco.
Each
polygon, a
shard of glazed
terracotta,
sage,
amber and
ochre, fits together with mathematical precision to form a perfect
Islamic rose.

Here's a
wall covered in
Zellīj at the
Ben Youssef Madrasa in
Marrakesh:

On the city ring, where you would normally read Casablanca, there is مراكش (Marrakech) written in Arabic, in red.

And the
ring itself has been rewritten for this part of the world:
Mecca,
Al Quods,
Charjah,
Doha — cities that standard world timers do not usually feature.

I find this dial very well done and appealing.
Do you like it too?
