...and my two oldest girls last weekend.

When the girls stay home, I can go for a longer hike.  When they're a bit older, they can come along...

We just can’t let Gavin N trample all over us closing all hiking trails and all public beach parking lots ro satisfy his ideology.

Sorry right to free speech and right to peaceful assembly are first right amendments. He literally and unilaterally decided our rights.

I will stop here as it is really frustrating with college kids shut down and draconian business closures......

Nuf said.

I'm with you, Bill...

...I just received the email today from San Mateo County -- beach and park restrooms, parking lots, picnic tables, etc, are off limits.  I think the government's only option to save us from ourselves is to bubble-wrap everyone and place us in cold-storage until this passes in a year or so.

I'm going rogue though -- the area behind my home is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and very few people know about it.  I plan on getting lost for some hikes for a few hours each week just to keep my sanity.  I can be out for 3-4 hours hiking and maybe see one person (usually not though).

Kind regards,
Dan

Thanks, Dan, for taking us on this virtual hike.

Thanks, Champ. I've lived around the Bay Area but we settled here...

...it's a nice place live -- the trade-off is that it can be a painful drive for work.
Kind regards,
Dan

Great area nonetheless and I also loved playing the Half Moon Bay golf course amongst others. I still have a home in Los Altos Hills but not there often since my wife is French and we mostly live in France...

I love the bay area and miss it sometimes but the one thing I do not miss is the grind as well as the horrible traffic. It is a much more peaceful life for me in France now that I am no longer a young buck πŸ˜‰

That's fantastic! I sometimes go over to Los Altos along 35...

...as there's a fantastic range in the hills.  Although I've lived in the Bay Area for 18 years, my wife who's from Bay Area is still trying to get the Rockies/country boy out of me with very limited success.  smile

Yeah, the daily drive grind is something else, although it has recently gone quiet on 280 with everything in the news.

Jealous of your life in France. smile  I did my graduate work in England and often talk with my wife about getting a second place in Cambridge.  It would also be good for my young girls to visit the university town in the summers -- keep them focused on their educational pursuits.  *sigh* something for the future....

Kind regards,
Dan

Your idea about a 2nd place in Cambridge would be a great idea as well as good for your girls...

I do miss the bay area sometimes as I spent a good amount of time there, MBA at Stanford and worked as a VC in the bay before stepping away, essentially semi-retiring, and to follow other endeavors.

Life moves on so we all adapt to what the next step of life brings. I met my wife under crazy circumstances and settled in France many years ago but that is another story altogether πŸ˜‰πŸ˜

Be safe and take good care of yourself and your family. During this sad moment, we all should take a step back and realize what truly is important in life πŸ‘

Forgot to say, if you ever make it over to France, it would be great to get together for a nice lunch, dinner, or drinks while chatting about watches and life. If you play golf, I would be more than happy to invite you for a round at my golf club in the south of France (Cote d'Azur) πŸ˜‰β›³

Thank you, Champ. I appreciate your sentiment -- caring for our families, friends, neighbors -- we'll make it through this together

I'll let you know next time I'm planning to visit France. Also, let me know if you're ever back in the Bay Area, I would love to catch up.  Unfortunately I'm not a golfer though (probably my father-in-law's greatest disappointment smile )

I'm glad we can connect virtually and make new friends during these poignant times.

Take care and stay safe.

Kind regards,
Dan
