... to make watches from, and in fact many of these have been made with the innards supplied not only by UN, but also by Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constatin, Piaget, and several small and barely known brands. this must not be confused with the "coin watch" currently made by Corum. Corum cuts the coin horizontally and places an ultra-small hand winding movement into it. Here, we have the surfaces of the gold coin placed on an outer casework as a lid, with an empty place in its middle, into which the customer brands could place their small watches. These could be taken out in order to wind or adjust. Some of these watches, made in the 70s, had quartz movements, the better ones had hand-winding movements.
While rarity is certainly not a factor here, its current value will depend on the overall condition.
your's is the only other one of these i've ever seen. I have the same one. Mine has an 18k bracelet attached. I emailed UN the serial and got a date of September 1969 for movement production date. I still don't have a value. Let me know if you find anything.
