Sonata springbar

Hi folks,

Could any Sonata owners confirm for me if the spring bars are curved or straight? I know the OEM strap is a curved one which fits tightly to the watch case.

I have been contemplating one and saw a few (on the secondary market) where the strap has been replaced by a regular straight edged one.

Many thanks,
Chi Kai

Always straight NT [nt]

The second generation and the streamline

For some years, I was quite set on the second generation one but recently I have also opened up to the streamline. I tired a second gen on the wrist some years ago and the fit was good. However, now I feel the streamline has a “cooler” more updated look, especially the case. I have not tried that on in the metal before and when London opens up next week, I have an appointment with a dealer to see the the streamline. This will be the ceramic bezel one.

Definitely not the sonata classic! I don’t feel they were very UN. They seem to have lost the flare and whimsy in their design!

Chi Kai

These are some phots of the second gen one

Copyright to the dealer!

Yes, this is the one. The flaw, compared to the 1st generation, is that it sounds a bit more aggressive. The first generation has a rounder sound. [nt]

I agree, Chi Kai. The 1st and second generations are very romantic, not to say poetic, the Streamline is cooler, younger. The Classic has lost its character, a bit. [nt]

I do hope the design Sonata classic isn’t a sign of the direction that UN will take..... I always felt I could rely on UN for some flare and left field design!

Will let you guys know what happens in a few weeks!

Chi Kai

Yes, please keep us posted! [nt]

Is there Anything in particular I should look out for, specific to the Sonata? Obviously all the usual due diligence with a secondary market dealer but anything more for this particular watch?

BW,
Chi Kai

Ask when it was serviced. The Sonata is not a cheap watch to service. [nt]
