Are sector dials making a come back?

 By: fernando : January 23rd, 2017-00:48

I've always liked this one though, irrespective of the current trend. I guess everything goes around in circles and I'm waiting for the day when decent size watches with refinement become popular again.smile

As this is my only watch with such a dial, it would be interesting to see other watches with sector dials.

Look forward to seeing them here. If you have them pls. post. smile

Thanks for looking.

One of nicest sector dial chronos out there for me

This has got to be one of the most outstanding chrono layout since vintage era smile very nice indeed

Thank you. It definitely feels like it's from a different era.:) [nt]

I think the only other closest modern vintage style chrono would be the recent Vacheron Constantin Historiques Cornes de Vache 1955 Chronograph, its very beautiful but very expensive since its made platinum.... well.... i could only admire from the window.... sad

Brilliant watch and not only for the dial [nt]

A BIG +1 on "decent size watches with refinement". Sadly...

 By: Peripeteia : January 23rd, 2017-03:50
... I can't find a single watch in Roger Dubuis' current collection that I find remotely appealing!

But yours is a thing of beauty smile

Wear it in good health...

Cheers,

Kamy

Thank you Kamy!

I wonder why my RD collection isn't growing.wink

During Dias era RD achieved more consensus

Several new movements each year (with some reliability's problems) with a unique design.
Maybe too show off, too big, but the quality was by far above the average.
They made one of the best chrono caliber ever, excalibur with micro rotor; under Richemont they focused more on reliability and Monegasque crono is not so bad.

That's a beautiful chronograph.

Wow that RD chrono is stunning!

I immediately went and Googled it ;-)

As for sector dials, it's interesting to see how they've unexpectedly had a mini resurgence in interest. I really like their vintage look, though I only have one modern one

Nice! Thanks for sharing. [nt]

Btw how big is your RD chronograph? I find it rather tempting... ;-)

37mm. The size seem so perfect for it. [nt]

Crazy how that Dubuis is almost a TWIN of the new JLC chrono. In a way this is why I'm less easily moved by really almost all new watches... there is virtually nothing the great Swiss or Germans have not done.. and I say this with greatest passion for all they have ever done.... but it underlines the general advice:  collect icons... designs, names, brands, whatever... are replicated. But icons... remain icons....

Well said Mostel! [nt]

I am not so sure about sector dials, but what I really would love to see coming back...

are Roger Dubuis watches of this class and elegance. Your specimen is a superb example of a holistically conceived watch according to the good old Genevan school of yesterday.

Thank you for sharing!

Best,
Magnus

I agree Magnus. Thanks! [nt]
