Patek Philippe

I have been wearing my 5004R for the last few days after finally getting it off my wifes wrist. I just cannot get used tio the size. Its a beautiful watch, love the style but my head just cant around the size. Does size really matter. Guess I will wait impatiently for the 5204P.

I don't had the chance to try the 5004 but I remember quite well the 2499 , the 3970 and the 5970.

And I had a problem with the 3970 with saphire caseback (It is not exactly the same with the metal one).
The watch is beautiful, no doubt about, but I was disturbed by the proportion between the diameter and the thickness.
The 2499 gives a complete different effect in term of proportion, much thinner and more balanced, the same for the 5970. The 3970 gave me the impression of a little burger.

As the 5004 is not far from the 3970 but thicker I suppose it is even "worse". I must say I don't like the 5004 for that reason, as revered as it is by Patek lovers, maybe it is a part of its charm for those who like it.

the watch fully fits your wrist and I would not go larger. The bigger they get relative to wrist size, the more damaged they get as the watch takes the hit instead of the wrist, food for thought.

and IMO it fits you well. However, if the 5204 is incoming, it would make the perfect his & hers set. Some of us can only dream......

matter as it's a fashion statement of sorts (and I'm speaking of watches now). Now, that seems  have had quite an impact on men as well given all of the big watches being made today.

I had a client in last week wearing a 5070 and while the watch is certainly beautiful, it seemed too large for him. He dresses impeccably but there was something that just didn't look right. The watch spoke at a distance and louder as he got closer.

But, to answer your question. Does size matter? Of course within reason, but where are the boundaries? Your watch looks perfectly fine on your wrist and is quite tasteful. It makes someone look and then look again. A hint of something special. In my opinion, far better than one which screams at you.

It reminds of ladies who bath in perfume for everyone within a mile to know compared to those who use just enough to catch your attention.

What a dilemma to have!

I just don't like anything beyond 36mm so the 5004 is the perfect size..I got a 5496 but its just too big and would switch it for a 3970 any day.

Too large a watch on a man imo looks ridiculous.
