5339 & 5074 - sorry for poor quality shots and video...
... because I only had my cell phone then there. The 5339 example was impressively loud and nice! I thought 5074 would be a bit big, but it doesn't wear too big even for me. Cathedral gong may not be for everyone, but I like that, too. Bottom line - I could be happy with either one, if I could ever afford 
3939, 5339, 5078, 5016, and 5074 - only sigh... at undisclosed location somewhere in Japan.....

The 5074P is my favorite Patek Philippe watch!
Very pleased that you were able to hear and appreciate the 5074P! This is truly a fantastically practical watch that is also quite beautiful at the same time.

Ahh, unfortunately not practical in that regard...
But the 5074 is a very useful watch; a perpetual calendar is always appreciated in any setting, and the minute repeater is always a great way to tell the time in the dark or in bed when you don't want to open your eyes to see the time.
Very practical for my needs. It's even an automatic, which is a bit of a surprise really; since most watches in this price range is usually a manual wind.
I understand, it is not a practical watch; but the watch is surprisingly practical in some very specific ways but is probably not overall what is considered to be a practical watch.
So you mean it is afor a burglar and for people who bought a horrible bedrom recently?

I was thinking: best during a vintage convertible car race, where you wear gloves while driving (no rain or dust issue here).
Or when her royal majesty is giving the honnour at her diamond jubilee next June: an occasion where white gloves are mandatory!

That I do not have any of these occasions as I am quite apprehensive about my PP or Lange even when a light shower starts.
O.K, as a piece on the shelf next to the gigantic Lange ZW Striking Time?: ... yes!

... okay, as Patcick says, perpetual and MR combined are practical. And automatic winding is most practical for perpetual watch (I can't imagine winding perpetual calendar watch every morning.. thus while I love so much 3970 or 5970 manual winding were a bit head scratching). Having the same base calibar as 5074, 5078 is also automatic and that was head scratcher as well. So, manual winding 5339 and automatic 5074 both make lots of sense in terms of "practicality" in that regard.
Either way, as you say, any of these would be soooo nice if it were in the collection.... sigh....

pateks models, is there anybody have the chance to compare PP with other brands like ALS, VC, AP, UN, IWC etc ?.. I am sure someone in this circle have the privilege and hope they share their experience.

They are both amazingly sounding. I have a preference for the cathedral gongs (not hearing your movies, but from personal experience).
Still some watches with "standard" gongs in the PP range are very tempting too. A 5078 is a fantastic understated watch, a 5207 is a summit in complication, a 3939 is pure beauty,....
For those who may want to make a definitive opinion (choice) after hearing these movies, I'd like to say that I don't think you can be disappointed by any new Patek Philippe repeater as they are all tested by the president himself.
I would like also to add that each individual watch has its own sound and you can't say 5339 watches ring like that or 5074 watches ring like that. Cathedral gongs are differently ringing than "standard" gongs, but each watch has its own individual sound, even if they try to bring them as close to possible to a "standardized" sound, or range of tolerance.
Anyway you can' t be wrong choosing any!
