Patek Philippe

I've currently saved up enough to buy my first patek and being a fan of the Nautilus range I'm currently considering the 5980 and the 5726.

Having tried both of them on I am currently leaning towards the 5980..... any suggestions on which one i should go for?

Which watch will be "better value" given that i can acquire them for roughly the same price (5980 is 2nd hand)

.....and I wanted to buy my first patek with my own money, now that i have enough to pull the trigger i simply cant decided between the two....

 

because of the beautiful blue dial and chrono function. Ive seen the 5726 in the flesh and probably the main thing i like about this piece is that its come with a leather strap and a rubber one. I think the 5980 is the more sporty piece. Have you seen both watches in the flesh? The wrist test is probably the most important one to do if you can and then go with the one that sings the most to you.

Buying a 5726A, I finally went with my gut reaction and bought the equal new 5205G

As has been mentioned on numerous occasions at the end of the day the decision is down to the individual and the main reason why I didn't go for it was that at times both the day/month are covered up by either one or both hands, I know, it's my OCD kicking in!! LOL

But I do very much like the newer 5980 with the new date colour combination.

So this one would be my choice.

I have tried on both of them and wore them for a couple of days each (my friend and uncle who had them lent it to me)

Each have their own perks and i have fallen in love with both of them....had i have enough money i would just buy both

So I'm just asking for your guys' opinions and preferences to help me make my mind up

5712 also came to mind but i feel it's too similar to the 5711 in term of size.

both are great watches, but i would pick 5726, because i find more purpose in annual calendar rather than chrongraph

I would go for the Patek 5726.Watch is elegant and very practical.

all the Nautilus watches and finally got the 5980....

A great chrono mechanism that can work continuously without affecting in any
way the accuracy of timekeeping...

So beauty and accuracy....

I also like the mono subdial.....

However the 5726 is also a gorgeous watch and you cannot go wrong with either of them....

One last point though....
There is no better value price wise, rather better value in enjoying what you get...
Meaning, the better value is the one that you like most and wear most.
If you buy a watch with. A big discount but rarely wear it, then you paid too much- if you buy one
at full price but enjoy wearing it, then you got it at the right price...

Hi,

I got both and I love them both. The dial of the 5726 is very balanced and I love the display of day and month. With a metal bracelet it would not be easy to choose...
But the chrono is a great watch and very underestimated at the moment. A chrono from PP in steel will be a very collectible watch, that's for sure! And the blue dial is more Nautilus..

so I will go for 5980, I have the 5980 and love it.  Nothing against the 5726 but not my cup of tea, I always like Nautilus with metal bracelet.  Annual canlendar will go better in a dress watch but I agree that annual calendar is more useful than chrono.  But then again, these watches are not really for practical purpose, they are pretty to look at. 

i would go for the 5980. having the ss bracelet lets me use the watch more often, anywhere,anytime.
id save up for a 5726 later.
