Patek Philippe

I placed an order of 5712/1 to a PP Boutique. They indicated that the delivery time is about 6 months. I can wait but what are your experiences of the waiting times of this model plus other Patek models?

and it came in a week!!  I couldn't believe it.  I would imagine that there is a lot of variability here depending on where you are and how the supply/demand dynamic is behaving at the time.

They are crazy. Either that or the AD seeing if you bite. If you do, they will clock an order for you. But if you say, can't wait. My bet is they will suddenly have a cancellation by another customer, and they could procure for you one immediately, but u have to commit immediately, with little discount.

and they do not speak about discounts. I have "strategic reasons" to buy from them and in Finland Patek kicked out their only AD and naturally, there is not even one AD of Patek in Estonia.

In my city, there are at least 5 running around, from PI and ADs. I shall not be rude and ask what the strategic reasons for buying without discount from the PP boutique, but I understand.

I might order one day a watch which is not easy to get... Furthermore, I don't really have any good relations with PP ADs so that I could ask for some rebates. Naturally, I don't like the idea of paying the highest possible price.

As much as the watch is nice: it is not a limited piece or something that you could not get on the grey market.

To pay all what is asked is quite tough, it aches even to here this as it is A LOT of money for a watch.

My PP AD is very, very understanding when I tell him that it is a lot of MONET he is asking there for a watch.

The relationship that you are mentioning might not develope as you wish as many, many here own several Pateks and still do not get a 5131 and a like.




BUT: It is your decision and has to be respected and understood!

You are 100% right. In Patek Boutique they said that the next price increase is in February and it will be around 5% "or something like that".

The nice thing is that if I happen to find the watch I want to buy with a cheaper price, I can go for that. I know that the watch I'm looking for is not a limited edition. I don't buy watches in order to speculate - I'm buying just what I love. At the same time one reason why I like Patek is that in case my life would get really complicated, I can always get something by selling my couple of Pateks.

With the Nautilus my biggest problem is if I should buy ref. 5738 before or after 5712/1. Both are watches I would really like to get this year.

10 % in the U.S. Some sites already have the new prices showing on each piece. Feb is the date.

Patek is increasing retail prices but its not an across the board 10% increase. Stainless steel models will get small or no increases at all. Gold and platinum models will be getting anywhere from 7-13%. Some AD already have the price sheets. Patek is supposed start delivering watches in february as now there is little or no inventory. I stopped by PP in New York City and they said they haven't received new inventory for over month and don't expect anything until middle of February after the price increase. Good luck in your hunt but I can assure you that the retail for your 5712 1a will not be going up 10%.  

I was told exactly the same thing by my local AD the other day, check back late February when they would have more in stock.

A few days into 2011,  the AD whom I was familiar with informed me they had a 5712/1A to show me if I could go down to have a look within the next couple of days.  I was new to PP then and had to check what's this 5712/1A.  And I read a lot of posts and comments about it at this Site.  Also checked with another AD which I frequent, but they had not stock then and was told I would have to wait if I was keen.  Was quoted list price.

The following day I went to have a look at this 5712/1A.  It was love at first sight.  Amazed by its thickness (or in this case, thin-ness), considering its complications.  Was quoted a reasonable price and there I have my very first Patek. 

It seems that in your part of the world these watches are available. In PP's #1 Salon in Geneva they did not even have one piece to show the watch. Perhaps everything is going to SE Asia when europe is in financial crisis...

is that though Singapore is small, there are proportionally many more AD and PP boutiques, so more pieces come to this part.  I would think it's similar for Hong Kong, or more so.

Lovely choice, but my AD could probably get that watch much faster... although I haven't asked in a long time... but recently, he had a 5712 and was heavily discounting.... I only mention 'price' to underline the fact that this watch, being harder to sell than a couple years ago, should be available faster.

Six months does seem excessive.

But keep in mind, Patek Philippe is feeding the Asian market (a market with double digit percentage growth) in order to ascertain a premium market position there.

However, in the United States, the waiting time for the 5711/1A and the 5712/1A are not six months long. I would imagine it to be less than three months long.

When working with the Patek Philippe boutique, it's not necessarily beneficial to work with them by buying small items, it is beneficial if you work with a client manager who is resourceful and will fight for you with his management to make sure his clients are satisfied. Look for young promising individuals who have a passion for the industry and great product knowledge but hopefully don't have too many big clients already. The established older client managers are sometimes overwhelmed, have too many loyal clients that they can't possibly satisfy, and have lost interest in the product and can't keep up with the new technologies.

Good luck Kari! I'm sure you will enjoy this Nautilus very much. I'd consider ordering the cufflinks too so you can make this a formal watch as well...

I really like the 5110P, it is among my favorite Patek Philippe timepieces.

Never thought that it would go so well with the Nautilus cufflinks, but that's indeed a great idea! Will wear Natuilus cufflinks with my 5110P someday when I obtain a 5110P.

I bought last week the golden Ellipse cufflinks in WG with blue gold center. Those are also great.
