5951P vs 3939HP
It appears that both watches needs application and the prices are almost the same.
It you can have money to get either one, which one you would like to take?
A perpetual split second chrono OR a tourbillon MR? Each carries two important complication...hard to decide?
Me...3939HP hands down.

I honestly don't love the 5951P...
Personally, I really appreciate the 5074P, which from my understanding is about the same price as a 3939HP (or in the neighborhood of that price).
While I do like the flamboyance of the red-handed 5951P, I do find the dial layout to be extremely unconventional and the moonphase display to be almost a bit crude. The watch overall seems to have little Patek Philippe DNA (the dial is very unconventional, the case is about all that is recognizable as Patek Philippe). Overall, the 5951P is not a watch that I would personally be super-anxious to acquire. In all honesty, I love the 5004 much more.
But in the thin air of the super expensive watches such as the 5951 and the 3939H, I would acquire the 3939H or if I could substitute that with the 5074P (my favorite Patek Philippe watch period), I would.
Goodness I really love that 5074P. I need to take a trip back to Geneva just to see it again. Maybe I should save my money on the plane tickets and put the money towards my Patek Philippe 5074P fund. I'll stop rambling about the 5074P now. I've stopped (for the moment).

Without any hesitation, the 3939!
I will have to wait till I'm able ( if one day I am ) to see a 5951 in the flesh, but my first a priori is not big love for the 5951.
And, to me, it cannot beat the 3939, which is a pure (master)piece of Poetry!

but in fact I would rather have the 5950.
If I would want a tourbillon , repeater I would take the 5016 !

I've always loved the 3939! To be honest I would compare it with the 5950: same simplicity of design and dial, purity, top of its class! Choosing a preference would be very hard and as of today I would take a 5950!
I would compare the 5951 with a 5074. There I would probably compliment my 5950 with a 5074, for its cathedral gongs. If you get a minute repeater, beauty of sound is what counts more IMO! The 5951 is surprising but much more appealing in real than on pics!

1. Rattrapante
2. Chronograph
3. Perpetual calendar
In addition, it has the following I especially like:
1. Ultra think movement
2. Sporty look
3939 - It has 2 complication, neither of which I'm interested in, but
both of which cost lots of money.
1. Minute repeater
2. Tourbillon
Not only are these useless complications, but they are two of
the most expensive ones. Spending lots of money for something
you hate can't be very appealing. But, that's not all I hate about
it. The watch is too formal looking. Since I don't need to dress
up in a suit (I pitty all you folks you don't have the freedom to
do whatever they want).
I'm glad though that most of you would rather own a 3939, because
then I'll have a much easier time getting my 5951.

Everyone here will be waiting for your Patek 5951 for sure .... let us know when you have placed your order. We just cant wait to see this piece up close. YOU must let us know how you will apply those split chrono functions into your daily life ... who can argue, tourbillon & minute repeater is just such a waste of time. Only the real expert can truly appreciate chronograph movements. I think Eric, you are probably the only few around that can understand.
