I love it because all the speculators are forced to liquidate their watches, and ADs have started to call me offering pieces which were deemed impossible to get at MSRP. Finally i can get to lay my hands on an 'impossible' piece!

The best thing is that, prices has become more sane, and i am truly happy that is the case, as well as Philippe Stern did not ramp up production or prices during those boom years!

But I just can't agree that PP did not make large price increases during the boom years. Just for example the 5712 has increased by 10k from its original price in 3 yrs. The 5960P went up over 20k in the same space of time. These are substantial increases. I'm not passing judgment on PP for raising there prices to close the gap between retail and " market price "  but these are very large increases in a short period of time.

you're counting in USD and that is the reason why it became more expensive. Your USD became worthless.

In Euro the 5960 for example only went up 10% since january 2006.

Hey Bruno, don't say the USD became worthless! haha.. i wouldn't mind a worthless USD 1 trillion! HAHAHA....

5711, 5712, 5780 , 5760, 5165, 5167 ??

Those were sought after because they were new. Waitinglists for those are almost gone

 

Now, I know quite a few people whou would kill for a 5070 , 5970 or 5004 and afaik nothing changed if you want one of those

5960, 5980, 5712... have long waiting list because they are the so-called hot models.

AD in my region is calling people to get them.  5960 is selling below list price.  It is easier to get these hot items from AD after the financial crisis.

However, for 5070, 5970, it is still hard to get.

HOnestly, I love this financial crisis as I am a man who buy watches only, I have never touched on stocks!  LOL

I must admit, I am also in a bind between loving & hating the financial crisis. It has forced me to give up a few of my most valuable timepieces from my collection! With those new funds I have been able to acquire less expensive timepieces to quench my AP taste. With the USD doing so HORRIBLE, I guess maybe up for grabs next is my 5070P & 5970R.....

I'm sure there have been some stock speculators who were on margin and thus forced to liquidate their watch "investments" but for watches such as 3970, 5970, 5004, and 5070 there is much demand.  But, lots of other Pateks, especially recent ones made in large number using Patek's new in-house chrono, are seeing much depreciation.
