This classic must be the least talked about of all the Pateks. What is it about it that renders it so invisible to the watch aficionados?
It has some outstanding credentials. Ultra thin, automatic movement, clean and elegant dial, "heavenly" proportions and one of the least expensive automatic Pateks.
Here is a picture of the yellow gold model with the blue sunburst dial and a blue strap that I borrowed from somewhere on the web and I cannot recall now from where. Thank you for letting me use it, whoever it belongs to. As I am only extolling its virtues and not trying to sell one [since I do not own one], I hope it is ok.
what year that is? With bezel work like that, one could be fooled into thinking this was a white gold model.
thanks for sharing!
Hi are you sure is in steel? do you know the ref.?
thank you
How about these two?
Got them 18 years ago.

I particularly like the sub seconds dial. Thanks for sharing!
But this is my personal taste...
I prefer the timeless elegance of a Calatrava.
This Ellipse is a bit too 70ies for me, with this weird shape.
If I had to go on ( and I went on ..) a 70ies look, I'd rather consider an Aquanuat or a Nautilus, IMHO...
But to each his own..

usual look of a classic watch with lugs. It does not have a round or a square or a rectangular dial, strictly speaking. It looks like a dress watch reduced to its most basic form.
I love the Calatrave and feel that it is the finest example of a wrist watch that was ever made. It is elegant, simple, dignified, beautiful, functional and manages to look very classy without looking flashy in the least.
But I am begining to like the Ellipse with many of the same attributes but in a different shape.
Patek gets very little "air time" and some attention was due this watch which does have its own qualities, albeit not enough to attract much of a crowd.

I got her a late 60's gold Ellipse last week for her birthday and she absolutely loves it! She has only owned quartz watches so I wasn't sure how she was going to take to wind the watch everday but she actually likes winding it. I was told its ref 3373, the bracelet is the favorite part of the watch for me. The only thing I don't like is the fact that it needs to be taken to a jeweler for adjustments in length but other than that the watch is great!
