Patek sapphire crystal treatment
So I wore a Patek today and as I tried to take a picture the reflections kept getting in the way, when we I try to get a decent photo of my 5170 it’s a challenge and I never can use studio strobes.
Which brings me to my question, why doesn’t Patek and for that matter Vacheron use AR coating on their watches? Even my Nautilus doesn’t have it?
Really weird to me, it can’t possibly be the cost, so there must be some practical or visual reason?
Or is it one of those stubborn facts like the diminutive 30m water resistance on modern Pateks?

Personally, I like how the sapphire crystal on my vacheron reflects a bit. It makes the watch shiny.

Yet PP does not seem to feel the need to. They're well-aware of the situation. The question is do they care? And if not, then ask yourself why they don't care. IMHO your best bet is to chat with a few independent watchmakers about Patek's current quality. Also ask yourself why there is only two years of warranty, and not the standard five-year warranty (as many now offer an eight-year warranty).

Would you agree that's some of the reasons why Patek Philippe is no longer part of the Modern Holy Trinity?
I'm not a fan AR on the outside of a crystal. AR scratches more easily then the crystal and imho scratches in the ar are worse then no ar at all
I think Patek, Rolex, VC etc don't use it partially due to the lack of durability and partially because they like the bling of a reflective crystal.
