5127R vs. 5296R
These are my two favorite Calatravas and I'm wondering which you prefer. I know this has been asked before but I can't help myself ;-)

Very sensual piece, and with the crown guards, almost wears like 38mm.
No scalloped lugs, but the 5127 does have wonderfully curved lugs and bezel.

The smaller size is always a better bet for a dress watch not to mention the case design is rounder and has softer lines.

The case profile is just irresistible..... It is a dominant factor for my choice of 5110 among various worldtime models
Never had the 5127, but id go for that Calatrava because of the crown guards and its a screw down crown.
More water resistant. And its slightly smaller at 37 mm. in diameter. More charming. My opinion.

I like the flat polished bezel. And I think a dress watch looks better without crown guards. But I am splitting hairs, here, they are both fantastic watches.

5127 wears much smaller than the 5296. 5296 wears like a 40mm. 5127 also has the traditional sized font on the dial not the super big print used on the new models and the 5296. The 5127 was always a very brisk seller when in production and seen as a big improvement over the scratch magnet wide bezel 5107. The crown guards add a style flow to the whole watch.
