Thanks for all the great info over the years - I wanted a watch I could wear a lot - and I honestly like a more trad watch than the nautilus or aquanaut.  So I took something dressier and put a casual strap on it and got it in white gold.   Can wear with a t-shirt or a suit.   What do you think?

It will always be a great watch in your collection. Personally I think that you could try something more adventurous when it comes to the strap, dark blue always works well.

To me it is becomming a clearly Bauhaus design watch, which is not a design I like.
I love the dynamic elegance of this G model, with ist cool blue strap.
So my personal verdict is: no, it does not work.

but not necessarily subjective, they want the objective way too, as Cpt Scarlet said, because the point is to be able to choose well in the end. Just giving a very partial opinion as if it was a standard truth is misleading.
For instance saying that someone should get a 33mm watch without a doubt isn't that obvious to say the least.
You often answer about the design as if it was the 1st element to consider but it is not everything and colors, complications, thickness, shape are all important matters as well.
I already explained in the past that there are temporary standards, linked to a certain period of time, a confluence of trend lead by the main actors of the aesthetical fields (Fashion, cars, architecture etc...). Hence, a standard is set. However, as time goes by, the standard evolves.
You have a very specific taste and you often criticize other's because they are not yours. Then you just say that it is just your opinion but it is not a way to say it, like you did lately. We've been discussing this already.

It depends on what the aim is, what weight we put for comfort, price, finishing, waterproof, price, looks, elegance, sportiness etc... If you buy someone else's grail, you may not like it and if you finally end buying nothing you may not be enjoying something nice

I have a great deal or sympathy for the point you are trying to make. There can be a tendency for people to transpose their own taste onto others. Similarly, one can see situations where what is deemed "correct", "tastful", "relevant" etc etc etc is seen as factual whereas it is only an opinion. I truly can see the point you are making.
However, this is the problem. The forum is composed of literally dozens of different nationalities. Although english is the common language, it is seldom the main language of the poster on these forums. That, in itself, creates a Pandora's Box of potential interpretation issues. Secondly, the range of accepted norms for manners (even within the same nationality) is stunningly broad. What one person sees as very rude is seen as perfectly normal and well-intentioned by another. Into this cocktail, one can throw a range of other issues such as financial background, educational background, upbringing, age, sex, etc etc etc. These all combine into making it a very broad spectrum of angles that arrive in a post.
Although your aims and objectives are logical and well-intentioned, from a practical perspective it is extremely hard to achieve. The reality is that one needs a 1-2 standard deviation around your mean to allow meaningful dicussion in a practical sense.

If I’m convicted enough about a watch, I’m going to acquire it no matter what anyone else’s opinion is. If other people’s opinions give me enough pause to not buy the watch then I don’t think that’s a bad thing. Perhaps I was getting ahead of myself and some of the other people had some perspective that I had not yet considered. I welcome and want an honest assessment when asking for the opinion of others no matter what their hierarchy for considerations is. We are not delicate flowers. We can tell the difference between fact and opinion. I can’t speak for anyone other than myself, but I want that kind of direct, honest, unbiased, unfiltered feedback. It’s one of the most valuable things about the forum, to me.

I did not use any strong expressions, rude or what so ever words. My opinion might be strong, yes, but in no way disrespectful.

It is actually written in steel, on a rotor of a watch I happen to own: passion, opinion, information ...

.....when opinion is unfettered. Also part of the forum rules is that one should addess others as if meeting them for the first time at a cocktail party. If i was to meet someone at a cocktail party and saw their watch was a 52mm bronze jewelled diver, my opinion would probably be very different to what I would say. And therein lies the problem. It is often easy to argue that opinions should be free and unfettered, yet at the same time the forum requests that opinions are not offensive. Its tricky. And tricky for the multitude of reasons i mentioned.

I think I’m coming from a place in which I assume that’s given. That’s, perhaps, an error on my part, but I bet many would agree that respect and decorum should absolutely be a part of sharing one’s opinion. That’s one thing. Asking people to basically not have or share opinions because of an assumption that other people are 1. incapable of deciphering fact from opinion, and/or 2. too fragile to hear it is quite a different thing.

The informed, passionate dialogue here is what separates this from instagram. When you have a bunch of passionate collectors together there will always be differences of opinion, and that, to me, is great as long as respect and decorum are maintained. I do not feel that direct, honest opinions and respect/decorum are mutually exclusive. We see hundreds of examples of this very thing taking place on this site on a daily basis, and, to my perception, much more often than rude, inconsiderate comments/behavior.

See it, see the discussion like this:Imagine you enter a cocktail party with a twin swan under your arm. Do you know whether there a swan lovers in the room? Or people with Anatidaephobia? I think everyone should decide for him or herself whether the duckling or the swan is ugly or prized. Pre-set opinions can only help the watch lover who has his own opinons and should not be intimitated or barely influenced by others. If a subjective view of an objective opinon is seen as a fact, the opinion's subjectivity will be highly marginalized. IF NOT MISTAKEN FOR CRITIZISM!

It would be more impactful to see wrist shots with different clothings to get a better sense of how this casual strap fit or not.
