Porsche Vision …

This is the new Porsche Vision 357, a Cayman GT4 RS-based 'concept' created by Porsche as the first of many celebrations for its 75th birthday this year. Its shape is that of a pumped up, slammed original 356, an idea of the kind of car Ferry Porsche might have come up with today were he designing his first car now.

The choice of the mid-engined Cayman rather than the 911 as the donor vehicle is an excellent choice.

By using the layout of the Cayman Porsche is being completely true to its heritage in general and the 356 in particular, as the first prototype, the 356/1 was mid-engined like the Auto Unions.

Porsche only moved the engine behind the axle line in production because it was cheaper to produce and allowed rear seats to be incorporated.

The engine displaces 4-litres and produces a serious 493bhp.

Porsche, please build this car and in reasonable numbers. count me in !
Best regards
Captain

Cute, but not a 911. ;-) Porsche are reducing their brand equity by increasing their model range too far. Thus, in the US, 'Porsche' now means little more than 'SUV'.

Porsche sell …

a lot of SUV’s because that’s what people want. They were early into the performance SUV market and virtually every other traditional performance car manufacturer has followed suit, including Ferrari.

Lamborghini now sells more SUVs than all other models combined.

The URUS is an Audi 😁

I was told from a Porsche tech that the Cayman chassis/design is superior to the 911..

They had to limit the horsepower otherwise 911 owners would complain.

Yes, …

I was told the same thing by a Porsche racing driver. He should know, as he was part of a LeMans winning team and obviously one hell of a driver 👌

Matt Farah (smoking tire & C&D) has driven everything, the Porsche he chose to buy with his own money was a short geared Boxster Spyder with a 4.5L engine. Chris Harris recently tried to trade his 992 GT3 for a GT4RS.

Now that the you can get all the power in the Boxster/Cayman, people are starting to see the light smile
Sadly it's only now that Porsche has allowed it just before they kill the line and replace with full ev

Outside of track racing

So much of it is about what roads you usually drive there’s a big difference between 87 and the Taconic if you know what I’m saying.

In fact, if you don’t know the roads of the Hudson Valley by heart… I do…

I can give you which roads, which time, and the general insight into enforcement in those areas…7 lakes…what a drive!

We should do a drive in the spring!

AND a Jet Ski up the Hudson😎🤙🏻

CH wanted the trade because he liked the 991 Touring over the 992 touring and decided to keep his 991.

I share his sentiment completely. I drove the 992 before buying my 991 touring because I shared the same complaints about the 992 touring.

Did someone say 357? DAMN, my favorite #!

Well, to be honest, I like 44 too ;-)

This is a cool concept.  I want a 718 one day to add to my 4 door Caddy.  But MrsC would kill me... good thing my favorite numbers are locked up!

They are warming prospects up for the electric Cayman... waiting for it in 2024

Very cool...

 By: mdg : January 26th, 2023-16:43
...they will be made in a limited edition of 42 (the number of eyelets on the shoes of Ferdinand or some other silly thing) and cost $3M.

Don't even think about buying one of these unless you are very well connected and have 9 figures in the bank...

The design is beautiful! And mid-engine for the win.

I agree with the mid-engine, pro Cayman sentiment. But the 911 still tugs at my heartstrings. No wrong answer here. I'm glad Porsche makes both available. And fully EV versions are surely coming in the near term. As for the SUVs, like them or not, the income they generate for Porsche helped save the company.

For sure it did..

It has also allowed Porsche to regain majority share back from VW.

I agree …

The SUV’s enabled Porsche to become a very profitable company.

I think I like. Sexy curves, but no headlights?

 By: nasseriq : January 26th, 2023-17:26

It will have headlights on the production version …

 By: Cpt Scarlet : January 26th, 2023-17:30
This car is the design concept, but I bet it makes production.

It certainly has potential but will likely be unobtainable for the likes of moi

 By: nasseriq : January 26th, 2023-18:21

Yes, if it makes it to production in some form....definitely unobtanium

 By: nacelle : January 27th, 2023-16:26
Look at the silliness of the most recent speedster...
