1963 Imperial, from an era when cars were not only transportation, they were an attitude adjustment, and a rolling billboard of status and mastery of the universe...

Yes, I am down at the SD Auto Museum workshops again, checking out the new stuff that has been donated or loaned to the museum. We went up to the mezzanine floor, where the bicycles are kept, and found this Schwinn Corvette!

Then this Western Auto Golden Flyer, complete with twin headlamps just like the Imperial and a springer front fork.

Golden seat too.

We pulled out this terrifying machine. The handlebars (a straight pipe) rotate, pulling on the rope (currently broken) which went over a couple pulleys and applied a friction pad to the back tire (solid rubber)

The seat is on a springy bit of steel that also holds the back of the bike to the front -- yikes!

A nice track bike, with wooden rims

etc.
Then we went down to check out the "Gold Bug" which was a special VW promotional model, complete with brochures and all.

Fully original and equipped with lots of fancy factory stuff including wood-like dash.

With its new fuel pump this car drives like a dream (so they said).
Thanks for looking,
Cazalea
