Aston Martin DB9

I saw this morning that Martha Stewart drives a DB9 with manual transmission.  She was using it to deliver a neighbor some eggs.

She probably has to be cautious....

With an estimated US$638 million worth of assets;-))

Makes me wish I had learned to arrange flowers. [nt]

I don't care who the person is...

But I have the utmost respect for anyone who can drive a stick shift these days. A real watch has no date and a real car has a manual.

Put 99.999999% of kids today in a car with a stick and they would not know what to do

I taught my 3 boys each how to drive a stick when they were learning to drive. We all got frustrated but it really
pays off. Now that's all they want to drive.

I can only agree! ;) [nt]

In complete agreement ;-) That's how I (and everybody else) learnt how to drive in Italy, at least 23.5 years ago when I was 18 (and probably still to this day)...

Manual transmission is IMO the only thing that requires some learning when we drive, and then it's the only option we have to really feel we are driving the car... Too bad this is being lost today (at least here in the US, but I see the same now that I rent when I go back for a few months a year to Italy -- automatic cars are just becoming the norm). On the other hand, in all likelihood this is (very) unfortunately just a transition phase until fully computer-controlled cars take over, so one day we might even forget about automatic transmissions altogether on a regular basis.. ;-) Cheers.

I guess the word is out that I'm her neighbor [nt]

My daughter will be taking her driving test next month. Upon passing, she will be one of the few youngsters in Singapore with the licence to drive a manual car.

911 GT3 Touring, here we come!
Wife can hitch the occasional ride as her driving license only allows her to drive an auto!

I am assuming your daughters license will also allow her to drive an automatic, it only makes sense. [nt]

In Singapore, drivers holding a 'manual' license can also drive an auto car but not vice versa. [nt]

I figured it had to be that way, thanks. [nt]
