Bulgari

Hi everyone!

One of the product lines of Gerald Genta that have always fascinated me was the GG Mickey Fantasy collection.  I've always felt that this series of watches added a fun and whimsical touch to the world of horology by combining the well-known and beloved Disney characters and incorporating jumping hours, retrograde minutes and even tourbillons.

With the recent announcement by Mr. Francesco Trapani on the integration of GG into the Bulgari collection, I'm curious to find out if what plans Bulgari has for "Mickey" and "Minnie".

So what are your thoughts on the continuation of the Mickey Fantasy line?  is there a fit somewhere in the Bulgari collection? 
Will it continue to be offered as a retrograde and jumping hour or do you see it as a limited edition with other complications in the Diagono or Sortirio case?

And more importantly, original Mickey from Steamboat Willie or current Mickey with gloves?

I think it would be cool to do a 'Retro' GG with a retro 'Steamboat Willie' on it.  Add a clear caseback with the mouse ears on the rotor and you got one awesome piece!

Hi ED-209,

It'll be cool if in the future, the collection expands to have Minnie Mouse limited edition for the ladies, whilst keeping the Mickey Mouse for the gents. Clear case back with either Mickey or Minnie head would be awesome.  So, can Bulgari please please please add this to the collection?

IMHO the Mickey watches should be offered as a retrograde and jumping hour models.
Simple watches like Gerald Genta used to make them and please not with a hand for the seconds,
that simply never worked with the jumping hour.
When the hour jumped, the hand for the seconds had still 20 seconds to go or had past the hour allready
with 8 seconds.
These watches should be offered as limited editions like before,
with Gerald Genta on the dial
and the BVLGARI name only in the guarantee booklet please.

Im still not shure that I get it, why this move was such a great idea!!! Im quite saddened by it actually.....just cant see these very special pieces and the rest of the GGs under the Bulgari label. Both GG and DR for that matter are very unique products with very strong features and traditions even though they are young brands in relative terms it is hard to see these designs as Bulgari products. the co-labeling with both names on the dial seems confusing at best, andmy guess is that it is just transitional thing until they sell out the existing products and they start puttjng out new designs.
I just wish they would not have done this.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.  From the sneak peak we saw from the Trapani video, there's definitely hints about GG/DR watches with their logos and Bulgari.  I think having both logos is a little too much, but I'd like to see what is debuted at Baselworld and to see it in person before making final judgement. 

So back to the Fantasy series, what activity would you like to see Mickey play on the dial?  Another racing version?  Sports like golf, or sailing?  Or something else?

Hi GEO, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Fantasy series. 
If you were to design the next dial for the LE Mickey GG, would it be a a variation of the racing,golfing, aviation Mickey?  Or a new activity?

If I were to design a Mickey; wow that would be something,
I think I would 'design' a 39mm case with the Classic Mickey, like the original version.
Maybe a bit more detail, like a painted Mickey on top of a guilloche dial
Plain dial, one hand that moves for the minutes.
And if it should be a more complicated dial, I would go for a 'traveling' theme;
Mickey with suitcase and his traditional suit.

I think Bulgari should continue with the Fantasy line and expand on the different offerings.  These characters have a cultural resonance, and brand recognition all their own, so why not create a new Bulgari Fantasy watch?!
