Does anyone here have any experience using them? And what about Orbita winders? Actually, should i use a winder at all? Please advise. Thanks.

In my opinion, the only reason to use a winder is for a perpetual calendar that you are wearing but not wearing enough to keep it fully wound.  These are difficult and time consuming to set so a winder is useful if, for example, you wear the watch during the week but not on weekends.  Put it on a winder and you're ready to go on Monday.

I enjoy manually winding my watches including the automatics.

Thanks for sharing your opinions, PC.I have more than one watch (I'm sure you do too). My work takes me out of the country like 50% of the time and hence winding my watches every morning is out of the question. Very often, I leave certain watches unworn for as long as 6 months. I'm just wondering if prolonged "inactivity" is bad for watches.  Is this a fallacy?

Also, I find it a pain to set the watch when there's more than one complication.

However, I've also read somewhere in this forum that it's actually not good to keep a watch perpetually wound, i.e. in a watch winder. The reasoning is that it would wear out the parts.

Sorry, I'm a complete noob when it comes to mechanism etc.

Hi. I have a Superior2 B&Z winder. It's a great looking thing and displays a couple of watches really well. It's quiet too - and you can programme it to 'sleep' at night. I'd have no complaints over it. Indded I would recommend the company. I once, through entirely my own fault, broke a clip on one of the winders. B&Z couriered me 2 replacements free of charge within a couple of days - so their after sales service gets a big thumbs up from me.
