Breguet

Dear Forumners!

A watch collector and historican who's name shall remain unknown sent me these pics of a very rare Breguet which is in his possesion. It is a Breguet fitted with the famous Peseux 260 calibre, constructed to stand the tests of ultimative timing competitions in the observatory contests. Here is a pic from a auction:



Theses watches were AFAIK made in unregular order in the 30s to the 50s of the last century. An auction text reads like this:

'A Monsieur Sorabji Chronometer Wristwatch No. 3912, completed on 29 December 1938, sold on 7 June 1939, for the sum of 15,600 Francs.

Pink gold Gentleman's wristwatch, awarded a "Bulletin de 1?re Classe".

Case: 18 ct., massive polished, Empire style, with reeded band, screwed bars.
Dial: Engine-turned silver, with painted Roman numerals + subsidiary seconds dial. Blued-steel b?ton hands.
Movement: Rhodiumed, 14"', with fausses c?tes decoration, 18 jewels, lever escapement, Guillaume balance. Blued-steel Breguet balance spring. Signed on the dial and the movement, numbered on the case.
In very good condition.
Diam.: 34 mm.
Estimate: SFr. 80'000-120'000
History: The records show that this watch received a Ist class Bulletin for timekeeping, which would account for the considerable sum of 15,600 Francs.'

Inside of course the Peseux 260 (sorry for the bad scan!)



Have you ever seen such a fabulous watch? Me yes, and it draw my attention diagonally over the table during a meeting!

That?s in fact a very rare one.
And the description is very very interesting, especially the dates of production and sale. Quite unusual, even among the Peseux 260.

Do you have some more informations about this movement or watch?
Especially where it was tested and if the pictured P260 is a Breguet watch?
