Breguet

Breguet made the same key mistake as AP with the Code 11:59. Money was spent here, but it's not clear at a glance where it went. The newer watch's dial is intricate and expensive to make, but it comes across as austere rather than opulent. The full-width lug was a mistake, and it seems almost as if Breguet half-committed to a full integrated bracelet sports watch before losing its nerve. I see thousands of used watches per year, and I've hardly encountered any of the post-2018 Marine either at work or on wrists.

It's on rubber, but leather is also fantastic.

But the Roman numerals, hands, date window location, case and lugs are better on the left.

I feel the 5527 is so different from the 5827 they’re hard to compare. I wish Breguet had not discontinued the 5827. This reference certainly seems more “Breguet”. The 5527 has a very modern aesthetic. For me the best dial of the 5527 is the blue. It really comes alive in proper lighting. I think the only logical solution is to have one of each. I have seriously considered both references on multiple occasions but haven’t made the move. My desire for the VC Overseas Chrono has kept me at bay thus far. I find the chronograph the least compelling since it lost center minutes. For the other models, the new models are fun in person.
