In my eyes, it is certainly not distasteful, but at the same time not particularly appropriate.... Hope that provides any degree of aid in determining social sentiment of it among likeminded enthusiasts.... Cheers, Filip
For me personally it doesn’t work. Normally I like nato’s but the marine is perfect with the rubber. Such a beautiful watch. Enjoy! Lars

Mixed opinions but some very considered (and polite!) responses. I will probably wear it for a bit and then revert to the rubber again. I don't think I'm too concerned about scratching the case back with the strap but that is something I hadn't considered.
Aside from the look, how does it wear?
The NATO raises the profile on the wrist which takes getting used to. I would worry about door jam encounters.

It wears very comfortably but it is definitely sitting higher on the wrist.
From the picture, it looks alright to me
I do think the rubber strap suits this watch best and the bracelet a very close second. That’s just my opinion though.
