📖 About This Reference

The Patek Philippe Aquanaut Reference 5650G, known as the Advanced Research Aquanaut Travel Time, represents a technical exploration within the Aquanaut collection. This particular reference showcases Patek Philippe's ongoing commitment to material science and horological innovation, integrating novel advancements into a familiar and popular design. It stands apart from standard Aquanaut models due to its specific technical enhancements rather than purely aesthetic variations, positioning it as a significant piece for those interested in the brand's research and development efforts. This timepiece features a white gold case, housing a self-winding movement. A notable characteristic is the use of a compliant mechanism for the second time zone correction, replacing traditional pivots and springs with flexible blades. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal on the front and an exhibition case back, allowing a view of the movement. Its design maintains the robust yet refined character associated with the Aquanaut line, while subtly incorporating the advanced research elements. For collectors, the 5650G is particularly relevant due to its limited production and the incorporation of experimental technologies. It appeals to those who value mechanical innovation and the forward-thinking aspects of watchmaking. As an Advanced Research model, it offers a glimpse into potential future directions for Patek Philippe's movement architecture and material applications, making it a distinct and sought-after piece within the broader Patek Philippe catalog.

Patek Philippe at Basel - my favourite three from the novelties
I am a big believer in "feeling" a watch on my wrist before being able to give a review on it. Obviously, sometimes one just cannot do that and one needs to rely instead on quality images. This year, however, I took the trip to Basel to "feel" the watches first hand. Looking at it through glass wind

Why did I buy a Patek Philippe 5650G?
Why did I buy a Patek Philippe 5650G? If truth be told, I am not a big fan of either the Nautilus or Aquanaut range. I see neither as sports watches. I see them as sporty, but not a sports watch (credit for that distinction goes to Patekova). I would always have a preference for Rolex as a sports wa

A two weeks review of Patek Philippe 5650G. Don't open the post unless you can tolerate over 20 pictures of the same watch.
First of all, I do not feel like re-writing the story of 5650G. The Press Release telling everything about 5650G Advanced Research you can find from here: I think the newest Advanced Research reference is made for the younger generation Pated Philippe admirers. It's a watch praying for action! I'm

5650G early thoughts....
One of the less loved new releases 2017 judging by most comments. Personally I found it very appealing from the first moment I saw it on pictures and read the technical details. I really like how an advanced research movement is being used in a sports watch with a water resistance of more than 100m.

Patek Philippe 5650G - 3 weeks on the wrist
It arrived just over three weeks ago. Sometimes, when one takes delivery of a new watch, one gets a feeling immediately when one puts the watch on the wrist. That feeling can vary a lot. Sometimes it is intense and sometimes quite flat. Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to have gone throu
