You should've been at the boutique Monday night, Mach. A guy with a poodle on a leash walked in as I was waiting for the manager . . .

Dec 30, 2022,03:02 AM

. . . to bring out the UD.  An Omega rep went to greet the new customer.

"Is there anything I can do for you, sir?"

"Uhhh . . . yeah.  I don't see any prices on these Omegas.  What does [pointing to an AT] that one cost?"

"The list price is $6100, sir."

"$6100?!  No shit!"

[pause]

"Yes, sir, the list price is on the tag."

"So, what does the James Bond cost?"

"Just over $9000, sir."

"No fucking way!  Isn't Omega the same as Citizen?"

Dr. No's New Ultra Deep...

By: India Whiskey Charlie : December 27th, 2022-18:49
I am posting this on Art's behalf while he gets his computer photo posting issues sorted out. Hopefully soon, meanwhile he wishes everyone Happy New Year! ...

Epic :)

 By: InHavenPro : December 27th, 2022-18:54
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to both you and Art. It's a brilliant dive watch, no doubt about it. Cheers, Filip

After picking up the Ultra Deep last night in LA, I had dinner with my pal Jim . . .

 By: Dr No : December 27th, 2022-19:31
. . . in Huntington Beach. When I showed him the reason for my trip, he said, "About forty years ago I was looking at this massive Omega dive watch in a jewelry store. It had a black dial, and they were asking $3400 for it. That was about $3000 more than ...

Amazing piece

 By: Cookies : December 28th, 2022-06:17
Looks so good. And a nice story too. Congratulations on the acquisition of one of the toughest dive watches out there.

The boutique called on Thursday to let me know it had arrived . . .

 By: Dr No : December 27th, 2022-19:34
. . . but there was no point going before Christmas as parking spaces would've been hard to find. No problem finding a convenient spot next to the elevator yesterday!

I haven't been able to persuade you to get an rg chronometer . . .

 By: Dr No : December 30th, 2022-02:44
. . . yet . This coming year, maybe?

Hehehe... We'll see!

 By: amanico : December 30th, 2022-04:12

Thanks, Abel! I'll share photos as soon as I work out the technical kinks . . .

 By: Dr No : January 3rd, 2023-21:43
. . . that are standing in the way. I can report it kept exceptional time while on my wrist for a week. No second thoughts here! The Ultra Deep is likely to be as close to an every day watch as I'll ever have. HNY, Art

Happy New Year to Dr. No!

 By: patrick_y : December 27th, 2022-18:58

Thanks, Patrick! . . .

 By: Dr No : December 27th, 2022-19:34
. . . and same to you . . .

Very cool!

 By: diracpoint : December 27th, 2022-18:58
Haven't got a chance to see it yet! Congrats!

The boutique received mine and a titanium version as well . . .

 By: Dr No : December 27th, 2022-19:36
. . . so maybe they're getting to be more available than previously. Check with your local boutique! Art

Thanks much, Charlie! . . .

 By: Dr No : December 27th, 2022-19:25
. . . and I hope to be back in business soon - hopefully before the weekend. HNY, Art

Big Deep Congratulations 🎉

 By: Clueless_Collector : December 27th, 2022-19:27

Thanks, Raymond! . . .

 By: Dr No : December 27th, 2022-19:40
. . . you know better than most how I justified the acquisition to myself: "Hey, you've gotta have a waterproof watch when you move to the PNW." ⛈

A massive congrats my friend! What a nice beast!

By: Chronometer (aka yacomino) : December 27th, 2022-19:32

Grazie, Yacomino! . . .

 By: Dr No : December 27th, 2022-19:41
. . . I thought the 910 would be the largest to ever enter my collection, but as usual, I was wrong.

It really looks amazing! I need to see it in the flesh!

By: Chronometer (aka yacomino) : December 27th, 2022-20:14

The answer is 'no' . . .

 By: Dr No : December 28th, 2022-11:03
. . . unless I'm on a cruise ship that sinks over the Mariana Trench.

🤣🤣🤪

By: Chronometer (aka yacomino) : December 28th, 2022-20:47

Wow, what a great looking watch. Huge congratulations, Art…

 By: ChristianDK : December 27th, 2022-19:46
…and wear in the best of health, as we say🤗

All's good here, Christian . . .

 By: Dr No : December 27th, 2022-20:08
. . . and hope you and yours are also enjoying this holiday season. Warmest, Art

My vintage collection is just a little bit jealous now . . .

 By: Dr No : December 27th, 2022-20:11
. . . so I have to give the harem some affection this weekend after getting the measure of the new kid on my wrist. ;-)

Hahaha... Good one!

 By: amanico : December 27th, 2022-21:11

Lovely Jubbly! 👏💪👊

 By: Andy_Mac : December 27th, 2022-19:51

Mine is #2 in our community after Cap's . . .

 By: Dr No : December 27th, 2022-20:13
. . . and I hear rumblings of #3 on order. I don't know if UD will ever get to be the smash hit CK 859 is, but I'll bet we get into double digits. Art

I’m not gonna take that bet

 By: Andy_Mac : December 27th, 2022-21:23
….as I have a feeling you may well be right! 👏👊 X

I must've been a good boy this year . . .

 By: Dr No : December 27th, 2022-21:00
. . . 'cause Santa dug really deep in his bag to pull this gift out!

We all knew this was coming!!!

 By: myles721 : December 27th, 2022-20:40
Congratulations.! I consider the Ultra Deep to be the only truly wearable super deep diver. Just thin enough so one can wear it as an every day sport watch…even more wearable than the Ploprof. If I didn’t already own the P.O. chrono it would be on my wris...

I'll never get to use 6 meters of depth rating . . .

 By: Dr No : December 27th, 2022-20:58
. . . much less 6000, but it's enjoyable finally being in the company of dive watch enthusiasts. I've always liked the genre, but couldn't find one nearly as close to ideal until UD came along. An original SM 1000 would've done the trick, but they're scar...

Happy new year

 By: Weems@8 : December 27th, 2022-20:40
That is a massive 6000 meters deep Seamaster. I make no secret about it, the ultra deep is for me a must have as Omega seen by me as the grand in watch land. Before i can enjoy Dr No’s his ultra deep.

All thoughts of latching onto a Ploprof, vintage or otherwise, and even the original . . .

 By: Dr No : December 27th, 2022-20:53
. . . SM 1000 have vanished. The UD is that compelling. Happy New Year, Weems! Art

Congratulations Art 🍻 👏👏👏

 By: Cpt Scarlet : December 27th, 2022-21:05
Enjoy !

That I will, Cap, that I will! . . .

 By: Dr No : December 27th, 2022-21:09
. . . and Happy New Year to you and yours. Art

Thanks Art …

 By: Cpt Scarlet : December 27th, 2022-21:38
Happy New Year to you and yours. Good to have you back 😉

Very strong looking diver: big congrats, dear Art! 👏👏👏

By: COUNT DE MONET : December 27th, 2022-21:27
I have not seen it yet, but on this superb picture it looks serious and quite convicing. 👍

Try one on, Count. It took all of two minutes with the UD on my wrist in October . . .

 By: Dr No : December 30th, 2022-03:08
. . . to loosen my grip on the credit card. 💳

Way to go Art!!

 By: MichaelC : December 27th, 2022-22:22
That is a baaaaaaaad boy!!! Totally love it. Enjoy in great health my Friend!

The first time I ever ran out a game of 8-ball . . .

 By: Dr No : December 30th, 2022-02:53
. . . (shooting in all seven stripes or solids and then sinking the 8 ) was yesterday with the bad boy on my wrist. Confidence or coincidence? You tell me! 🎱

+1

 By: myles721 : December 28th, 2022-00:13

Couldn't have said it better myself. Omega came up with a dive watch . . .

 By: Dr No : December 30th, 2022-02:36
. . . for all seasons*. Art * with apologies to Robert Bolt

Heavy duty stuff Dr No, big congrats!

 By: S F : December 27th, 2022-23:39
Between the UD and the Ploprof, what were the deciding factors to go for the UD?

The Ploprof is tolerable on my wrist, but still . . .

 By: Dr No : December 30th, 2022-02:32
. . . overtly large. Its presence is as unavoidable as it is unmistakeable. UD is more like the Flightmaster - it blends in on my slender wrist. No one has noticed it yet; I consider that a positive.

Thank you kindly, Fab. You should try one on if you get the chance . . .

 By: Dr No : December 30th, 2022-02:47
. . . if only for the experience. Who knows? Maybe there's an Omega in your future!

Congrats!

 By: Arronax : December 28th, 2022-03:49
To be filed under *Go big or go home*

UD would be Exhibit 'A' . . .

 By: Dr No : December 30th, 2022-02:28
. . . in that argument. ;-)

Many congrats for this ultra massive Omega, Art!

 By: MTR : December 28th, 2022-07:42
It’s a fantastic offer from Omega I like the wrist presence. And I like the pure dial with the 3 - 6 - 9 - 12, especially that it is not disturbed by a date window. My best 6.000 wishes Thomas

Thanks, Thomas, although I hope to never have actual need . . .

 By: Dr No : December 30th, 2022-02:19
. . . of more than a few of those six thousand meters of water resistance. I can't remember the last time getting into an ocean; maybe on a future trip to my favorite vacation place of all, the Seychelles. 🏝

ultra cool

 By: VinnieD : December 28th, 2022-09:40
and apparently more wearable than its Rolex competitor

Definitely more wearable on smaller wrists; the new Rolex diver . . .

 By: Dr No : December 30th, 2022-02:08
. . . would be a non-starter personally. Even if I could get one at list, I wouldn't be able to wear it. Art

Maybe the Royal Tank Corps could adopt UD . . .

 By: Dr No : December 30th, 2022-02:04
. . . as their issue watch.

Congratulations on this sine qua non of the diving world.

 By: Uncle Chico : December 28th, 2022-12:56
True story: a friend had a YG Rolex diver on vacation in the Pacific and decided to test the water depth rating by attaching it to his deep sea fishing line. After it was submerged someone reminded him that fish are attracted to shiny objects. Hilarity en...

Uh oh!!!

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : December 28th, 2022-19:38

I could image this episode as a scene . . .

 By: Dr No : December 30th, 2022-01:57
. . . from a Jerry Lewis / Dean Martin film.

Big congratulations Art! 👍

 By: KCLQMULKU : December 28th, 2022-12:59

Thanks much! . . .

 By: Dr No : December 30th, 2022-01:54
. . . it's been on my wrist since Monday night, with no end in sight.

Yes, I've seen and tried on all three versions . . .

 By: Dr No : December 30th, 2022-01:47
. . . on most of the strap and bracelet options. I bought the rubber strap and dedicated buckle as well, but it's going to remain on the bracelet for the time being. Art

My cousin Vic also bought one, steel with black dial . . .

 By: Dr No : December 30th, 2022-01:44
. . . and orange bezel on rubber strap. I've posted a photo of his UD before; unfortunately I'm unable to post photos at this time, but should regain access in a week or so. HNY to you as well, Spangles! Art

Art takes the plunge!

 By: kevster : December 29th, 2022-02:28
In a big way! Off the deep end so to speak! Congrats Art I thought you'd never come aroud. But when you did... wow! Looks like a gem of a watch. Enjoy in good health.

It took only - what? - seventeen years? . . .

 By: Dr No : December 30th, 2022-01:38
. . . but you know what they say: 'patience is a virtue'. Thanks, Kev! Art

Epic piece, looks awesome!

 By: gregcarraram3 : December 29th, 2022-03:54

I can't wait to wear it . . .

 By: Dr No : December 30th, 2022-01:36
. . . with my MGPS t-shirt.

I can't think of a more enjoyable New Year's resolution . . .

 By: Dr No : January 1st, 2023-04:46
. . . than trying on an Ultra Deep. Happy New Year, Craig! Best, Art

Thanks, Marc. We've gotta meet up soon . . .

 By: Dr No : January 1st, 2023-04:47
. . . for a side-by-side photo op with your Aunt's titanium UD. HNY, Art

I finally saw one for the first time!

 By: CR : January 22nd, 2023-19:00
Very comfortable and wearable on my 6" wrist despite the fact that it looks too large. I was hoping to try the bracelet version but this was all they had. ...

Still waiting for the dedicated buckle to arrive . . .

 By: Dr No : January 27th, 2023-16:52
. . . so that I can wear the short strap that's already been delivered. Totally down with the appearance of the strap . . . might have to switch around often to appreciate both options. Art

How is the comfort, Art?

 By: gregcarraram3 : January 27th, 2023-02:01

It's comfortable in the physical sense . . .

 By: Dr No : January 27th, 2023-16:58
. . . and unexpectedly comfortable aesthetically. I don't tolerate large watches well, but the UD is a rare exception. My 910 Flightmaster is also an exception, and GO Navigators another. Currently wearing a '62 ref 14701 Seamaster . . . . . . that's 35 m...

I was able to try one on at my OB

 By: NardinNut : February 1st, 2023-13:42
They have the orange version available. Tried on for fun and was surprised how wearable it is! Sure it’s as thick as my college girl friend but still so wearable! Love the transition dial.
