This is a most interesting and enjoyable post dear Captain. Not only an introduction to the new "Ed White" model recently launched by Omega but also a great Homage to Astronaut White...

... and his comrades who lost their lives in such a terrible accident. It´s so moving to read the plaque at Pad 34 telling us not to remember the way they died buy the ideals they lived for.
Though I would rather like to have less age than I presently have I feel privileged to having lived the times you well describe here: the 1960's, the wonderful cars of that era you tell us about and the Space Race of course.
Reading your post brings me lots of nostalgia and though I adore the cars of those times I absolutely agree with your opinion about driving them daily today.
The original Ed White Speedmaster model is a coveted piece of collection today. Not easy to find a good specimen and prices escalating continuously and even owning them we don´t want to risk a piece like this wearing it in daily basis.
So it was a wonderful news when Omega announced the new version some months ago. This is a superb watch to enjoy on the wrist and with the additional value of being equipped with legendary movement 321 which can be admired just turning the watch through its transparent case back.
I have ordered mine and I know it will take some time to arrive due to pandemia restrictions and economic crisis in my land, so your post adds fuel to my anxiety of getting my piece. Lol!
Thank you so much for sharing this post and beautiful photography and information my dear friend and I wish you´ll keep enjoying your Ed White so much and in the best of good health!
Best cordial regards, Abel.
PS: of course I dreamed to own and drive one of those wonderful cars during the 1960’s when I was just a teenager:
Jaguar Type E, Mustangs, and of course the Vettes!
