That's a tough choice

I have seen and tried on both of them. As you said, for the hesalite the pros are the authenticity and the brushed links which I prefer, although the polished links are not too bad because they are small, unlike a Rolex Oyster bracelet where polished center links really stand out.

I do prefer the display case back and applied logo of the sapphire version though. Since I already have a hesalite with 321 movement, I personally would probably get the sapphire.

As other have said, if you want to see the movement and are worried about scratches, go with the sapphire. If not, and this is your first Speedmaster, I recommend the hesalite because it is more true to the original.

Hi all - I’m likely to buy a new 3861 and can’t decide between the hesalite and sapphire sandwich models. Hesalite pros: authenticity of appearance, cool domed crystal, and all-brushed links. Sapphire pros: scratch-free crystal, applied Omega symbol on th...

Sapphire all the way unless it’s a safe queen not to be worn. No fun to constantly worry about scratches.

+1

It’s a very personal decision with no wrong choices. If you want to see that beautiful moment, as you know you have to go for the sapphire version. The Hesalite version is a no brainier if looking at the movement isn’t an issue for you.

That's a tough choice

I'd go with your reasoning. Then again, watch the 321 chrono seconds hand stutter and the 3861 hand, relatively speaking, flow... Cheers Marc

I was waiting for my friend Art to weigh in. And as I hoped, he gave his blessing: hesalite, sapphire, sedna — it’s all good. 🙂

So my vote would be for the sapphire in order to admire the gorgeous movement.
