Omega

Thanks much for creating a thread so that more may enjoy . . .

. . . your heirloom, Fred.

While I know next to nothing about Omega pocket watches, I do know (thanks to Bill Sohne's tutelage) that DDR movements are beyond special.  If anyone should stumble onto one, whip out your wallet and pay whatever the seller asks.  It's invaluable in horological terms.

Incidentally, if it hasn't been serviced, then I would suggest not winding it until it's been assessed by a watchmaker.  And not just any watchmaker: an experienced and sensitive professional who will know what he's handling.  Usually I don't recommend employing Omega's service department for vintage models because they've been known to ignore (or override) a customer's requests regarding refinishing or parts replacement.

In this instance, perhaps the best place would be Omega.  They would not only have due appreciation for it, but they may also have parts stockpiled away.

Amazed,
