My question really stems from curiosity about the past life of watches. Would such inscriptions generally be an identifier of the actual person working on the watch, or does it mean something else completely?

Looking a little bit closer (loupe), I found a tiny inscribed number on the case back. I read it as “100429B”. Anyone care to guess what it could mean? Best ...

You have to get the movement serial number and get an ectract from the omega archives. If the watch was sold in your country you can maybe hunt down some known watchmakers and see if they have any stories to share. But as noted these watches have no ident...
