Surprised by the new Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep . . .
Currently enjoying some rest and relaxation in Chicago. Of course, my idea of rest and relaxation involves visiting boutiques and ADs!
Today I paid a visit to the Omega Boutique hoping to see a Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep, especially the blue-black gradient dial. Unbelievably, they had both the rubber strap and the bracelet edition available for viewing:
Yes, they’re quite thick. But I was surprised to learn I could actually pull this off on my 6.5” wrist. You need the right lighting conditions to appreciate the gradient dial:
They also had the orange bezel with the grey-black (i.e. brown) gradient dial. Based on the typical artist renditions utilized by Omega, this piece never crossed my radar. But it’s actually quite striking in the flesh:
I’m shocked by these PO’s! Yes, they are anything but small. But not as big as I expected, which is probably due to the lug-to-lug length. These are so much better than I had ever expected! Check them out folks!

Like the Rolex Deepsea, I’m sure you get used to the size quite quickly.
One really needs to see them in the metal!
Like me, people will be surprised by just how well Omega executed these PO’s!
The 600 meter PO at 43mm also wears very comfortable.
And the best part is you can walk out of the AD with one. ...
Although both the gradient blue dials were called for . . .
I could have walked out with the orange bezel /gradient grey dial on the bracelet! But, I’m still on the fence on which one I prefer!
Same wrist size here . . .
. . . but I was able to acclimate . . . . . . instantly. Now, I might have a problem with the taller titanium version . . . will have to try one on to figure out if the difference in weight offsets the increase in height. Art ...
My cousin bought the same version a few days ago . . .
. . . which fits his larger wrist like a glove. ...
The two versions are actually the same height . . .
. . . but the lugs are different, which lends the titanium UD a taller perspective. The overall aesthetic of titanium is preferable, but the lug design and obligatory NATO are a limitation. Art
Thanks for the pictures. Something bothers me about these and I guess its the fact that the bezel seems too thick/wide for me.
They seem too clunky but I may get used to it. I guess I prefer the style of the earlier Planet Ocean more... ...
How was the weight and balance on the wrist?

From your 60th trilogy Seamaster? There's no wrong answer.
The blue steel model on the bracelet is the one I'm eager to see in person.
I recently visited the dealer where I saw you a few months ago and they still hadn't gotten any in. Hopefully I'll see one soon. Would love to compare it side-by-side with the James Cameron DSSD. Thanks for sharing these, Mark, and I hope you're well.
