Partly the reason why I sold my Speedy..

Mar 05, 2019,18:17 PM

After sales with Omega service is really expensive given the acquisition cost. Rolex arguably provides better value in this area considering its average price tag.

And one thing about these c0-axials, I heard from a local repair guy that he declines to service ém because they require specialized equipment to apply very precise amounts of oil.

Plus, they don't exactly consistently do a good job. After paying 6-700 USD for the service, my watch stops a few weeks later. I encountered problems when winding it.

Anyway, after sales is what's keeping me away from this brand although I did succumb to the 60th Rail.

Taking all the minuses side, I'm contemplating on banging my head against the same wall by re-acquiring the Speedy at some future date. Hahaha!

No one ever said this hobby made any sense.

Try to look for a good watchmaker who can service your watch. It's usually half the cost. I'm lucky to have found one who was a long-time ex RSC guy. He did the service on my moonwatch (the one that I let go) for half the price. Took him only a month or so.

Best, Echi

Really not happy with Omega service centre...

 By: hoseachandra : March 5th, 2019-04:07
Folks, first I thank you if you read this, and I apologize for the rant, but I have to... I've been a big Omega fan, i have 3 omegas in my small collection, and in the past I have bought many Omegas , all new from AD or boutiques. Recently, I broke the ma...

Unfortunately, your experience is not unique to Omega

I had the exact same experience: I had a Roger Dubuis Easy Diver Chronograph (Lemania 2310 base movement) which I bought brand new. Two months later, I break the main spring (I even heard it pop). I sent it to Richemont's US Service Center and requested a...

Service is a huge issue for the industry

The costs and time associated with even routine servicing are not acceptable. In the past, small problems could be easily addressed by local watchmakers. For a specific problem, the factory service centers should offer a minor service option. In order to ...

Heard many of these cases...

They replace "all" regardless of if the part is worn or not. One argument I heard is that to be able to give warranty, this must be done. This is unfortunately not unique to Omega, many brands do this way nowadays... Not a good development in my opinion. ...

Thanks Nick, Blomman, and all, for sharing my pain

Like I said, I finally can accept the whole "ridiculous" full service . But I just feel "cheated" when they do it by charge more than official service cost...it feels like they do me me a favor by rubbing salt to my wound. And they can't even bother to ex...

That's the piece that gets me the most. I have one in flight right now, you'll love this. They had the watch for four months with zero updates, not a word. So I pressed and they said "we are waiting on parts", they didn't actually say what was wrong or wh...

would like to hear the next story :)

Feel sorry for you too. USD 17,000 can get you a nice Patek Aquanaut preowned or brand new gold watch from Cartier Omega Rolex etc.

Grey market dealers are selling the watch brand new for $16K or there about. So, yeah, I could buy a brand new watch for less than the service quote. It is a bit of a nightmare and I very much look forward to it being over! NickO

When I broke the watch I sent it to the nearest AD for the brand

Honestly, they really haven’t cared either. One could argue that because they didn’t sell me the watch that they don’t have a dog in this fight. But it’s left me thinking I can’t be positive that they would have acted differently had I bought the watch fr...

I know an excellent Omega-trained watchmaker in NYC who can help

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : March 5th, 2019-17:44
Pm me if you are interested. I can only promise that he is very honest and very skilled. I can't say what the price will be, except that it will accurately reflect the service done and will be fair to that measure.

Thank you my friend. But sending my watch from Indonesia to NYC will stretch it too much i'm afraid

Maybe I just have to swallow the bitter pill. In any case, this definitely will make me think twice to buy from Omega in the future.

Thanks, Echi. I still trying to find local watchmaker

Who can do the service and have the mainspring on hand...still no luck. I love this hobby, so I guess I just have to live with all of these...oh well. I have complained to Omega Bienne about SC who charge above official cost...let's see what they will say...

Thank you Nico. I still wait for Omega's answer of my email

 By: hoseachandra : March 6th, 2019-07:51
Also, the SC said they will ask their boss if I can be charged as Omega's official cost, although they can't promise anything....which is funny, because by doing that, they admit that their charge is not comply to Omega's standard. I hope things will go w...

Update for today

After weeks of arguing and waiting, finally the SC agreed to give me service cost as per Omega website, but they will add 10% tax, which honestly I am not sure if it's right. When I serviced my IWC last year, the IWC SC did not add 10% tax. Anyway, I resp...
