Folks, first I thank you if you read this, and I apologize for the rant, but I have to...
I've been a big Omega fan, i have 3 omegas in my small collection, and in the past I have bought many Omegas , all new from AD or boutiques. Recently, I broke the main spring of my Moonwatch caliber 1861 because of overwinding. The watch itself is near mint. I bought it in 2015 and very seldom wear it. So I expect that the Authorized Omega Service Center (SC)could replace only the broken parts. To my surprise, they dissapointed me in 2 ways :
1. I have negotiated with them, whether they can replace only the mainspring, dismantling and assembly the movement, replace only the gaskets, and waterproofing test. And if any of the internal components are worn-out, of course they have to be replaced. But the SC said that this repair falls into the Complete Service, which include the replacement of pushers, crown, and hands.
I am very sure that the pushers, crown and hands are in perfect condition, and do not need to be replaced. Even the SC's staff admit that. But still, they refuse to do the partial service, and demanding full service.
2. The SC charges me USD 853 for the complete service, which is way above USD 653 which is the standard complete service cost in the Omega Website. When I asked why they charge more, they don't want to answer. I have emailed Omega Switzerland and they said the service cost should be USD 653 in any authorized SC.
I have politely said to them that i'm willing to make statement that I don't want the pushers, crown and hands to be replaced , as long as I pay USD 653 according to Omega website. Which I think it should please them and do no harms to them. But still, they insist on USD 853.
I'm really pissed off. I can live with point #1 above, but not with point #2. Its not that I could not afford USD 200 difference, but I can't accept why they charge more than Omega Official service cost, while they already make huge profits by not replacing the crown pushers and hands.
Unfortunately I dont have choice because in my country, there is no watchmaker can source the Omega caliber 1861's main spring, as Swatch group does not sell any part anymore to independent watchmakers, leaving customers rely 100% on authorized SC.
There I said it...its damaging my impression of Omega after sales service.
Any suggestion will be welcomed.
Cheers
