. . . I'm of two minds.

One the one hand, it's a tour de force both technically and aesthetically. It's reassuring to know that Omega is capable of creating works of horological art.
But should they?
Fred Astaire was practically peerless as a dancer, and an actor and singer of the highest caliber. Only Judy Garland had the same overall level of ability at all three facets of entertainment. Yet as accomplished as he was, he famously underplayed performances, mostly to make them seem effortless.
I feel the same about Omega. Peerless in terms of technical aptitude, exceptional at the art of design and the craft of production. But their watches have always been executed purposefully, without excess. That touchstone quality is precisely why I find Omega so endearing. If this tourbillon is going to be a limited exercise to demonstrate horological capability, then well and good. But if it's a harbinger of grand complications to come, then I'm not so sure.
