Omega forum contest! What will Dr No be wearing . . .

Aug 20, 2019,11:57 AM

. . . to his fortieth Stones concert . . .

[on stage in Santa Clara, Aug 18th]

. . . two days from now at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena?

smile

It will be an Omega from my collection.  That's your only clue.

Whoever guesses first and supplies the correct reason will win a prize.

Stoned,

Art

First guess. A pre-moon 1962 speedmaster

 By: jlc.thomsen : August 20th, 2019-12:22
Because they formed in 1962 and that was also the first year Omega was used in space. ...

I wish there was a 2998 in my collection . . .

 By: Dr No : August 20th, 2019-12:29
. . . but, sorry to say, there isn't. ;-(

How about a 1938 Omega Doctor's Watch?

 By: NickO : August 20th, 2019-12:42
You get to party with it all night long and then you send it back to the nursing home. Just like the Stones. ...

Very funny, very funny! . . .

 By: Dr No : August 20th, 2019-13:33
. . . . And I don't even have a Medicus. As Melvyn was fond of saying: "Wrong again!"

Whereā€™s DruidPadj when you need him?

 By: NickO : August 20th, 2019-15:07
My money says DruidPadj will get this right. After all, heā€™s a Druid and the Druids were around when The Stones formed. In fact, I heard they named themselves after Stonehenge. ā€˜Nuff said.

LOL! [nt]

Speedmaster Mk II is my guess...

 By: AlexSunrise : August 20th, 2019-13:26
I'm sure you will have an awesome time, Art! Reason being that is was made in about the same time as when you first saw the Stones. Cheers, Alex

Ah, you're getting the hang of it, Alex! . . .

 By: Dr No : August 20th, 2019-13:37
. . . there is a Mk II in my collection . . . . . . and it was issued during the lauded Stones Tour of '69 . . . Omega Man? . . . but unfortunately, no, it's not going to be the Omega on my wrist Thursday. (My first Stones concert was July '78, the second...

The Trilogy RailMaster?

 By: Clueless_Collector : August 20th, 2019-13:44
Thatā€™s one of your all time favorites in recent years.

No, not the Rail . . .

 By: Dr No : August 20th, 2019-14:53
. . . although it would be a logical choice as the concert is outdoors, and it's the only watch I have . . . . . . that glows. ...

darn... there goes my first guess !

 By: Seeks : August 20th, 2019-19:52
šŸ˜³

As good a reason as any, but . . .

 By: Dr No : August 20th, 2019-13:47
. . . not the right one. ;-) (I've added this pic so that others may rule it out.) ...

Itā€™s got to be something ā€œflashā€ ...

 By: Cpt Scarlet : August 20th, 2019-14:13
and very old but still keeping time perfectly.

"Flash, very old, and keeping time . . .

 By: Dr No : August 20th, 2019-14:35
. . . perfectly?" Sounds like a description . . . . . . of Charlie. ...

I think that ...

 By: Cpt Scarlet : August 20th, 2019-14:38
your watch will have a black dial.

Actually, no . . .

 By: Dr No : August 20th, 2019-14:44
. . . and that tidbit eliminates several possibilities.

Sacrilege! . . .

 By: Dr No : August 20th, 2019-17:27
. . . no re-dials here ;-) . . .

Jumpin' Jack Flash' ..

 By: Cpt Scarlet : August 21st, 2019-00:34
Iā€™m not seriously suggesting that ;-)

Ah...this one! Not the Railmaster I posted earlier.

 By: Clueless_Collector : August 20th, 2019-14:42
...

No, but you're right in assuming . . .

 By: Dr No : August 20th, 2019-14:45
. . . it's near-and-dear to my heart ;-) . . .

black seamaster would suite the occasion well...

 By: keks : August 20th, 2019-15:22
perhaps this Ā“56.... ...

Nope, that's not the one . . .

 By: Dr No : August 20th, 2019-17:13
. . . but keep trying ;-) . . .

Well, given the age of the Stones...

 By: mrsnak : August 20th, 2019-18:42
This technology dates correctly. ...

This is a good one ;-)

 By: Seeks : August 20th, 2019-19:51
Stones and fossils....

A 30 mm chronometer for sure

 By: mac_omega : August 21st, 2019-02:57
IMO you will wear a 30 Rg chronometer for that special occasion

Close, Erich! . . .

 By: Dr No : August 21st, 2019-06:02
. . . five 30T2rg and one 30T2SCrg in my collection, and any would be special enough for the occasion. Especially Tiffany. You're in the right neighborhood, but not at the right address, though . . .

Maybe a steel chronometer...

 By: stromer : August 21st, 2019-04:24
... similar to this one? Best, Martin ...

You're on the same wavelength as Erich . . .

 By: Dr No : August 21st, 2019-06:05
. . . but not directly on target, Martin. Very close, though . . .

ā€œNear and dear to my heartā€ brings me to

 By: stromer : August 21st, 2019-08:43
the Seamaster DeLuxe, the ā€œfreemasonā€™sā€ watch. The one with the special engraving on the back that you once told the story about here and in the OnTime podcast. Best, Martin

Then I am out of ideas.

 By: stromer : August 21st, 2019-16:48
You even ruled out your ca. 43 ref 2364 30T2RG before. This is becoming too special for the Mr ā€œNo clue about vintage OMEGAā€ that I am Enjoy the show, dear Art! I know how much it means to you. Best, Martin

Enjoy the show, great tour this year

 By: Wojo : August 21st, 2019-12:36
I saw them last month in Chicago, great show. A business partner surprised me with seats in the corporate box. They played Monkey Man which I havenā€™t seen in 25+ years. BTW, I wore my Omega Dynamic from 1970 ...

They've been playing an instrumental, . . .

 By: Dr No : August 21st, 2019-13:23
. . . 2120 South Michigan Avenue , . . . Hundreds of tracks, precisely one instrumental . . . early in the first set, which they've never done before. (At least, not in my four decades of experience.) How cool is that?

It is not easy for me to give the correct answer but ...

 By: Subexplorer : August 21st, 2019-13:33
... IĀ“m sure youĀ“ll have a Great Time with the Stones Show my dear Art!! And with any nice vintage Omega from your fine collection on your wrist to boot. May be an early pretty Seamaster from the times the model name didnĀ“t appear on their dials? Enjoy th...

It'll be a bittersweet experience, Abel . . .

 By: Dr No : August 21st, 2019-13:45
. . . because this has to be their last tour. They can't keep this up much longer. Charlie was born in '41. Mick and Keith, June and December 1943 respectively. And if you think that's a clue, you're right. ;-)

I well understand your feelings dear Art. Years pass relentlessly... and it is incredible they have sustained such an effort at their age. So your watch will say something about that.

 By: Subexplorer : August 22nd, 2019-06:12
In any case youĀ“ll keep forever many great memories and of course their recordings. Enjoy so much!! Abel

Dr No will not be wearing a watch to the concert...

 By: pplater : August 21st, 2019-19:09
...because: 1. He's Out of Time; 2. Time Waits for No-one; 3. Time Is On My Side Cheers, pplater.

Winner! . . .

 By: Dr No : August 21st, 2019-19:28
. . . on account of cleverness. The answer, which I thought should've been obvious, is Omega's ref UK 2292 , ca '43 , delivered to Britain . . . . . . the same year as these two. ;-) ...

1969 was smack dab in the middle of a string of phenomenal albums coming from The Stones.

 By: TheMadDruid : August 22nd, 2019-19:32
Well...maybe not quite in the middle; shading to the first half of the string. 1969 was also the year the U.S. faked a Moon landing. And I wore my Moon Watch to the August 5th show at Met Life. So, we will both have worn Omegas to possibly the last time w...

Do the incantations involve . . .

 By: Dr No : August 23rd, 2019-16:37
. . . Maui Zowie? There was magic last night, although not in abundance. The Stones usually play between 20 and 22 numbers, with two reserved for Keith in the middle of the show. For decades they usually performed a dozen crowd-pleasers with half a dozen ...

Ah, Black Connie would've been another logical choice! . . .

 By: Dr No : August 26th, 2019-06:13
. . . . but it was the '43 RAF from the get-go - I'd planned on wearing it to the concert as soon as I bought the tickets. Art

I'd give up my RAF Ī© . . .

 By: Dr No : August 27th, 2019-15:26
. . . to hear them play Star Star . Of course, they'd have to throw in a front-row seat. ;-)

I canā€™t open this box.

 By: TheMadDruid : August 27th, 2019-16:13
I guess you mean ā€œStar$&@er ā€œ?

Raunchy lyrics top ten . . .

 By: Dr No : August 27th, 2019-16:35
. . . contender. Right on the money, Padj ;-) . . .

my guess is...for obvious reasons.....

 By: NautNut : August 25th, 2019-19:18
...

Well played! . . .

 By: Dr No : August 25th, 2019-20:14
. . . even if it is a Zenith ;-) . . .
