Dynamic Genève / Dynamic I
I just want to share some pictures of the Omega Dynamic. One of my favourite watches. Mainly because I inherited it from my late father. My father bought the watch from new in 1972. From 1972 until 1990 did my father wear the watch day and night. In 1990 on his 60th Birthday did he as a Birthday present get a Omega Constellation St/st.
The design:
The shape of the watch case was issued from a computer design, searching the best possible design to fit a human wrist. The "elypse" shape of the case was the answer !
There also exist a Dynamic II from 1984-1985 and the newer Dynamic III from 1995
My watch
Is a big size blue dial with day and date and comes with stainless steel bracelet. Reference ST 166.0079 with standard dial. using the Caliber number: 752 with 24 jewels
On the caliber I found the following :
Designer: Marc Colomb (under the direction Henri Gerber)
Description: A record quantity of 5.8 million of these calibres was produced from 1958 to 1969 (with their 600/610 self-winding versions) and they are among the brand's most precise, most reliable and most renowned movements. However, the success of this family is not attributable to the perfection of its self-winding mechanism alone, but also to its extreme reliability, ease of assembly and maintenance, as well as highly ingenious improvements such as the mobile balance spring stud holder invented by Jacques Ziegler in 1959.
In 1969, more than half of all chronometers manufactured in Switzerland bore the OMEGA label. Nearly all were equipped with these calibres. It was the same case in 1965 for the famous series of 100 000 certificates, all of which were obtained with merit after achieving particularly good results for standards that were twice as high as those for official chronometers which did not obtain merit. These performances were essentially due to standards of quality hitherto unknown in the large-scale production of individual timepieces. The performances were also due to the use of ultramodern machines such as the Omegametric (invented by Pierre-Luc Gagnebin in 1962), an unprecedented system for measuring the torque of the balance-spring, which would from this point be adopted by all high-precision watch manufacturers
General comments on the watch:
Dial versions:
There exist many different types of dial colours as blue, red, green, black, white, red/silver, gold/grey, gold/black, blue/silver, green/silver, Maroon/Silver, Orange/Silver, pink/silver, Blue/silver with thick riveted hour markers, racing track dial (silver), Formula 1 checked flags design,
Came as "Genève Dynamic" and "De Ville Dynamic"
The watch came in four case sizes 42mm x 36mm and 30mm x 26mm (ladies) a special cushion case shape and a "TV" shape. The watch exist mainly in stainless steel, but actually exist also in a pure 18K gold version (extremely rare)

The watch came as manual (no date) and automatic (date or day+date(rarer)) using many different calibers
Some factual data, mainly from Omegawatches.com
OMEGA Genève Dynamic, 1968
Its elliptical shape results from an advanced study of the anatomy of the wrist and specifically the oval zone on which the wristwatch rests. Self-winding movement. Monocoque case, hermetically sealed crystal assuring water-resistance to 30 m. Dial in harmony with the decidedly functional look of the watch for easy legibility of the hour, the minute and the second thanks to concentric time "zones" and contrasting coloured hands. A new look to the bracelet too: a single piece screw-in into a circular groove under the case by a steel ring; cut in Corfam, a porous synthetic material pierced with 30 aerating holes; widened near the case to fit firmly and comfortably on the wrist. Crown integrated to the case in order not to break the aerodynamic line which inspired this famous model's name.
