But to employ in land or sea for several survival procedures in case of an emergency.

As a matter of fact these knives were attached to the survival kit of the capsule inside the hatch door.

One of these doors with kit and knife included was lost in the sea when accidentally it was released during the rescue procedures of one of the capsules upon their return from space.

Knife handles are dettachable and the blade tang is esposed with a hole to carry small items like waterproof matches and small hooks to improvise a fishing line.

I found some images from internet, one from the knive in exhibition at the Smithsonian Space Museum and another from the Nasa showing the survival kit. It is an interesting design for sure.

 Cheers! Abel

Randall, Moran and Loveless are the Holy Trinity of knifemaking, according to some people. Did you attend MAC 2019 in Buenos Aires? All the best, Manuel

Hello Manuel. Agree. Mr Randall is credited as the "father" of modern custom knifemaking. Regret to say all three you mention have passed away. I feel honored of meeting...

... these three legends of custom knifemaking in person. Regarding this knife, just a clarification: I wouldn´t classify it as a bowie. It has a smaller (4-3/8") blade to beguin with and blade design with a rather wider blade near the spear point zone is ...

Thanks for the clarification!
