My first omega

And my fifth watch. It's a very clean TV dial Geneve.

Most of my collection is focused on technically impressive watches, for instance my seiko 7a38. This Omega is a bit of a departure from that. According to the guys on omegaforums, the 1012 movement inside this watch is not omega's finest work, with weak dial-side components and less impressive finishing than the previous generation of omega automatics. Normally this would be a turn off to me, but it didn't matter because I am such a sucker for 70s styling. I really, really love the TV dial. And this example is nice, all the way down to the crystal:

I am also happy with the construction. The bracelet is superior to the one on my 7a38.

And it just about fits on my tiny wrist.

All in all, I am quite happy with this purchase thus far. It runs a minute fast per day dial up, but after service I'm sure it will do better. I am realizing that, like vintage seiko, there is value to be found in vintage omega. I hope to collect more in the future.

But it won’t stop me from enjoying this watch. I am glad to know parts are available as well. Thanks for the knowledge!

Glad to have another aficionado aboard . . .

. . . who 'gets it'. Vintage Omega is, first and foremost, a value proposition. 🙂
